Yeah, but atleasst they got a Scot to play Destro. Got to admit, t

this looks sweet.

That's Destro, he's not metal faced???

Maybe this'll be one of those movies where the characters start off looking one way, and end up looking like they were really meant to look...?

You know, like Fantastic Four.

Oh, God, did I just make that comparison? :duh

Didn't you hear? In the movie, Destro only wears a metal mask when Cobra Commander (played by the dork kid from "Third Rock From The Sun"!) wants to use mind-control on him.

On 2nd thought, this movie might serve one purpose: it can join the likes of SHOWGIRLS and BATMAN & ROBIN as a MST3K worthy howl-a-thon.

At least SHOWGIRLS had nudity and some nice girl/girl.

EW rates the cast:

G.I. Joe: We Rate the Cast!
DUKE
Channing Tatum

The field leader of the G.I. Joe team, which has been reconceived from its origins as an elite American fighting unit to be an international squad.

COOLNESS FACTOR: 7 (out of 10)
duke_l.jpg

DESTRO
Christopher Eccleston

The ''Big Bad.'' In the comics, as well as the '80s animated TV series, Destro was a weapons dealer who ran the Military Armament Research Syndicate. It's unknown how, or if, director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) has reimagined the character.

COOLNESS FACTOR: 9 (out of 10)

THE BARONESS
Sienna Miller

Destro's right-hand woman. Also evil. And very, very smart — she was an intelligence specialist in the comics.

Continued.....Agree or Disagree?

SNAKE EYES
Ray Park

The mysterious, mute ninja who fights alongside the G.I. Joe forces. The mask hides a hideously scarred face but his motivations — and true allegiances — are kept very close to the vest.

COOLNESS FACTOR: 10 (out of 10)
snake-eyes_l.jpg

GENERAL HAWK
Dennis Quaid

The commander of the G.I. Joe unit. Though he cedes battlefield control to Duke, Gen. Hawk is the brains behind the brawn, keeping the forces of Cobra at bay.

COOLNESS FACTOR: 5 (out of 10)

hawk_l.jpg

HEAVY DUTY
Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje

The name says it all, doesn't it? Big dude who likes big guns.

COOLNESS FACTOR: 8 (out of 10)

heavyd_l.jpg

SCARLETT
Rachel Nichols

Martial artist. Tactician. Duke's aide de camp. Hottie.

COOLNESS FACTOR: 9 (out of 10)
scarlett_l.jpg

STORM SHADOW
Byung-hun Lee

Snake Eyes' opposite number. Also a mysterious ninja dude who wears a mask. They might have matching tattoos.

COOLNESS FACTOR: 8 (out of 10)

storm-shadow_l.jpg

BREAKER
Said Taghmaoui

Communications specialist. As such, presumably likes to talk a lot. Also, now that he's being played by an actor of Moroccan descent, Breaker's probably not going to hail from Tennessee.

Oh don't forget to mention Dungeons and Dragons... :Wizard, o wait everyone forgot that movie and the same will be said about this...:emperor

I loved G.I. JOE as a kid, too.

That's why I want this movie to go away before it ever sees the light of day.

Allow me to clear up a couple of misconceptions:
-Yes, it's no longer a fully American team and instead a UN-founded team, but from what I heard with the US at it's core. The entire team and the Pit is set in the US as well, and only a few members are non-American. Why they did this? To avoid extreme American flagwaving and "We can do whatever we want in other countries", two things which would not go over well internationally. Let's face it, the US isn't exactly popular this decade, and the US market alone will NOT be able to sustain this movie, with which they're counting on $400 million+ instead of, say, $150-200 million (capitalism, it's a double bladed sword). And who knows, it might work: Action Force (the British version of GI Joe ARAH) did too, after all.

-Latino Review also posted a second script review, one that he was MUCH more enthusiastic about, and which was MUCH closer to the original cartoon.

-Destro WILL have his iron mask; it's just not used all the time.

-Cool Dude (appearantly Destro :monkey4) and Action Man have been kicked out by Hasbro after the first abysmal script draft. It was also Hasbro who demanded it to be more like the original show.

-It is set 10 years in the future, hence the weird armors the Joes have. This was decided upon so that most of the old vehicles and laserweapons could be in it, but updated. They wanted to stay close to the cartoon with this one.

-All the vehicles are INSTANTLY recognizeable. One of the reasons why they went with a slight sci-fi angle. No reported Hiss Tanks though. Whether that's because they don't appear or just haven't been revealed yet is unknown (list of reported vehicles is in here: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/showpost.php?p=64379&postcount=2)

-Larry Hama, the writer who basically thought up everything about RAH, is heavily involved with the script, and the actual script writer is supposed to be good as well.

-Cobra Commander will, from what I heard, always be hooded, and not make full appearances. Instead he's the "Unseen Big Bad", who supposedly only appears when conversing with Destro. Think Star Wars: Destro is Darth Vader, and Cobra Commander is a more badass Emperor.

-Most of the character relationships are intact, though some have been changed as well. SPOILER As of the previous script draft, Scarlett is involved with Ripcord, and Baroness was Duke's fiancee until 'something' happened. END SPOILER

I hope that cleared up some things. BUT I have to admit that I am VERY dreadfull of this movie. The costumes look generic and crappy, I'm not fond of the idea of laser weapons (the slight sci-fi angle I don't mind since it allows the cartoon/comic stuff to be in it), Lorenzo BiNoventura is a pig and a hack producer (he's the one behind Bat nipples, and didn't want Autobots or speaking robots in the Transformer movie!) and the director...Well...The Mummy and Van Helsing say enough about him, really. Not to mention some weird/stupid casting choices. Looks like this movie can go both ways, since it has both good and bad things going against it...I'm hoping it will be good, the Joe fans deserve it. But Sommers has me fearing the worst, alas...

EDIT: Fan review of the leaked script. https://www.hisstank.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7723

Thanks for the info.

Still sounds like a steaming pile of dog crap, though.

(BTW, message to Hasblo: The Larry Hama Marvel comics >>>> the cartoon)

Ahyup. Let's hope that the script is good, that the actors portray their roles well, and that Sommers doesn't fudge up too badly.

:lol Still gotta read those comics. But hey, the cartoon is what most people remember, though I have hope with Larry Hama being so heavilly involved.

The first Mortal Kombat movie was fun. Lambert was great in it and the uy that played Shang Tsung was soooo bad lol.

Street Fighter, uggggg, the cast selections were fun, the rest sucked ass. ASS.
