Thanks Gents! I put the sand bottom down, still working on it.

Next I have to add the other side of the street and backdrop, then finish the details up against the wall (piping and power converter box thing). Here's the latest WIP:

Thanks, Chris....I layed down tile glue then stuck sand to it..then spray painted it with textured sand color to seal it...then finished it with wood putty on the edges...finalized with a wood putty wash to match sand color.

Just fantastic skills. I don't really know what else to say. Your pieces should be in a museum or displayed in my office:wink1:

Thanks fellas. I found a great media to use for a realistic, clean sand base that looks accurate for 1/6th scale dios.....wood filler..

Here's some sample shots..some parts are still wet.

I just discovered that you can substantially reshape the sculpt of the Marmits with a blow drier. This does not destroy the overall sculpt.

In this image you can see how I dropped the front of the helmet downward towards the chest, making It more movie accurate.

Thanks gents. I thought i saw some Marmits on ebay, but they were pricey. They are gorgeous versions though. I'm surprised nobody has come out with more accurate versions in ABS.

This camera is really allowing me to capture what I see when i'm looking at the dios. i'm reworking the base on the Moisture vaporator with this similar sand looking base.
