Not to make Huge Profits but trying to avoid paying huge fees. But I see the values going up.

Could have bought a sealed DX12 for $360 2 weeks passed ended up paying $480 Now I see the Armory is going up in value.

I like the DX12 because of the way it is packaged.

See, there was no more at $360 few weeks ago, but now there are like 10 of them at $360 range. This hobby is all about being patient, if you didn't buy it that day for $480, you could have gotten one today for $360, or even less:

Same thing with Joker, if you are patient and actively searching everyday, you can still get one for $500ish, (or whatever the real going rate is, it's not $900 that's for sure).

Life is short, if you spent money on stuff that makes you happy then not waste of money in my opinion...

You're buying toys. Yes, you're 100% wasting your money. But it's cool, we all are, who cares?! Are your bills paid? Mouths fed? Then whatever, it's better than heroine.

Buying anything is pretty much a waste of money. Just bought a CD? you don't need to listen to music or buy a new radio to hear it. Bought a Coke? Drink water instead.

Money is made to be spent. Pure and simple.

Back to the initial post.
Unfortunately, it looks like you wasted some money. You over-paid a little on that Batman, but it doesn't mean it was a waste. Really just depends on how much you like the character, and what you're willing to pay at the time. I paid $220 back in the day for a non-exclusive Sideshow Storm Shadow, just cause I really loved it, and missed out on initial release. I was bummed when the prices dropped a couple years later, but I also really enjoyed owning the figure for that couple of years. Don't regret what you paid, just enjoy it.
For your next figure, you may want to wait to see what Sideshow is doing in Premium Format (for the Nolan Batman movies). I keep hearing of new Premium Format figures based on that line. The 1/4 Iron Man figures are great, so it really just depends on what you want (Batman or Iron Man).

I think the conversation has gotten off topic though. With regards to the "value" of figures.
I, for one, have @80 1/6 figures (Hot Toys, Sideshow, Enterbay, 3Zero, etc, etc.). I bought all of them with no intention of selling, as they are all pieces which tug on the nostalgia heartstrings. Like some others have said, I buy very specific characters for specific reasons, and I also have "rules" for myself as to what I can buy (just to keep the money/space in check). But even though I have no intention of ever selling my figures (even when newer better versions come out, which I also buy), I still keep a spreadsheet which I update every year. It just gives me extra pleasure to know that my collection (as a whole) is worth more than I paid.

Plus, it's a great tool that I use to make my wife feel better about the collection...
