Also post here if you are pretty sure you will be attending. A head count is important since we are aiming for a restaurant or bar to go to and reservations will be needed.

AWESOME!!!! :rock

Add me and Pitu to the list!

I just wanted to quote this awesome post by m0reto about places in contention for the party to be held:

I live about 20min away from the convention center, near Orlando International Airport. I'd be happy to scout out some places to help decide on a meeting place. Be warned I'm not much on the social scene here in Orlando so you will also have to let me know what would be the necessary requirements for the location i.e. horns on the walls and <s>bikinis</s> boots on the wait staff. :-D

Some suggestions based on my own knowledge of the area in order of location/variety of options:

a) Pointe Orlando is closer to the convention center. It's an outdoor shopping area of sorts. It has several social food places i.e. Adobe Gillas, BB King's, Hooters) and one of Orlando's two *real* IMAX theaters (the other is at the Science Center).

b) Length of International Drive itself, variety of food options at least. Bamboota already provided a link to check out all the stuff around that street (and yes, it sucks to drive it during business hours but it's fine after 9pm mostly. :-D)

c) Probably about 10min away (longer by public transport possibly) is Universal Resort which includes the Citywalk area mentioned earlier. It will have bars/eateries that are opened later. Some good food there, various price ranges.

If you want to consider a breakfast meeting, the B-Liner Diner is really good and it's located in the Peabody hotel near the convention center. Other options are your usual Denny's/Perkins/Waffle House/Steak n' Shake/etc. places. I don't know of any unique places around I-Drive for breakfast beyond them.

Also...I suggested someplace in City Walk.

I'll be at C5! Ill be with a company so I'm not sure what time I'll have available though.

My comments in RED.

Parking is not free though it is covered. This is within walking distance of the convention center though it is a bit of a walk.

This is not within walking distance though we have lots more choices.

Parking is not free though I think it is free after 5pm. I could be wrong. This would be a fun place to hang out with everyone though but the clubs aren't free and the restaurants will be very busy in August.

I like breakfast. :) This could be an idea.

Great ideas! Comments, suggestions?

I can be at a party 100%, even if I can't afford the convention. It would be a great way to introduce my Wife to some of the Freaks. Count me in. :duff

Sorry if this has been addressed before, but has anyone looked into getting lanyards made for those of us attending? I totally want one with my screenname on it and would love if everyone else had one, too. I think that'd be sweet.

Well...if we all pitched in...I don't see why not. I know that Sideshow does pins for the attendees of the freaks party.

We can do that too.

How about lanyards with something regarding Freaks and then a badge ?

Like Rebelscum does ?

Just a matter of finding a low minimum order...

https://www.superlanyard.com/custom-lanyard-p/LTP025.htm

Somewhere local may be easier to deal with...

Those prices aren't bad but I hate the whole idea of sight-unseen on the finished product. Anyone ever bought something like this from a local supplier?

Also, does anyone know if they provide a lanyard with the badges or no?

My buddy and I will be in Orlando for CV. So me plus 1!!!

:)

I can't wait to meet everyone on here! Although by then hopefully I'll already know some of you cause I'll be at the Freaks party at SDCC in July too!
