Still hoping I can go, but this is a tight year and I'm still considering. It was supposed to be this or the McVader for me, but I want both! I attended CIV for just one day, and wished I had gone longer, especially for the madness that was the marathon of all six films on the day before.

Come On Fury I want to Meet One Of My McVader Brothers:joy......!!!

I really do want to make it, the flight is the only expensive part, well that and the rental car. I have a place to stay about an hour outside of Orlando, with my Mom. And I do have the time reserved to be off at work, so hopefully I can pull the trigger within the next couple of months and make firm plans. It would be awesome to meet some Star Wars Freaks down there. It's going to be hot in Orlando at that time of year!

We need to figure out where to have the get-together. I'd say we should try to either meet a a restaurant or a central bar.

Anyone else live in Orlando like myself that would like to do some scouting?

Well....the convention center is right on International Drive so there would a great variety of places to meet....but I think the best thing to do is to reserve the place. Cuz u know that they're gonna be packed right after the convention ends every night.

I know last Megacon I had to wait for 1.5 hrs just to get a table in UNO's.......so yeah...Reservation is the key!:lecture

Yeah that was wild ! Still got my pic ! :rock

Yeah it would be cool if someone can check it out and make the res... That way we can know and get final head counts and the like.

Yes a Freak Party Would Be Cool!!! Let's Do it I am in!!!....

As am I :rock

Hell yeah...Like Jimmy saids....we need to know the head count to see how big we need a reservation. Once we get a general idea we can send RSVP's and sh__t to make it official (sorta like the Freaks Party).

Does anybody know if Sideshow is gonna have a booth at the convention? According to what I've read on here, they have been to every Celebration right??

Well....if they do come, it would be nice for the staff to come to the get together so they can meet us too!

Just wanted to bump this info that I posted a while back for the people that are to lazy to scroll though the thread.

Since DCFett was talking about the amount of things that he saw at the Celebrations that he attended.....I took it upon myself to investigate the size of the convention center to get a general idea of how big this is gonna be.

I compared the Orange County Convention Center to the one in San Diego. I've been to them both and they both seem pretty big!

OCCC: TOTAL 1,103,538 SQUARE FEET

SDCCC: TOTAL 1,386,122 SQUARE FEET

I know...I know....this might not mean anything... but by seeing that they both have about the same sq footage (SDCCC is bigger tho)....it gives me more confidence that maybe there is gonna be alot of stuff to see and do!

I've been to every Megacon for the last 4 years and they usually do it in Hall C...and altho it's a spec compared to the SDCC....it can pack a shat load of people...(stinky people)

Here are a few pics of last years Megacon so u guys can have an idea of what to expect:

And for u out-of-towners out there:
The convention centers is basically on a heavy tourist filled street called International Drive.... there's all types of touristy things to do on that street, including Universal Studios.

Here's a website that shows u all the attractions:

And for all u native folk that live or lived (like me) in Orlando....don't u f___king hate driving on that damn street?! :lol

P.S.....Why don't we do the get together some where in City Walk?

I'll be there! (Not that anyone cares! :D )

I loved C IV, and I'm looking forward to C V. Trying to work out how to bring the Vader. Worried about transporting the helmet.

Good room rates still there---anyone willing to split cost of a room?
I may have to leave on Sat. as I am flying stand-by

Adding my name to the list. :)

I live about 20min away from the convention center, near Orlando International Airport. I'd be happy to scout out some places to help decide on a meeting place. Be warned I'm not much on the social scene here in Orlando so you will also have to let me know what would be the necessary requirements for the location i.e. horns on the walls and <s>bikinis</s> boots on the wait staff. :-D

Some suggestions based on my own knowledge of the area in order of location/variety of options:

a) Pointe Orlando is closer to the convention center. It's an outdoor shopping area of sorts. It has several social food places i.e. Adobe Gillas, BB King's, Hooters) and one of Orlando's two *real* IMAX theaters (the other is at the Science Center).

b) Length of International Drive itself, variety of food options at least. Bamboota already provided a link to check out all the stuff around that street (and yes, it sucks to drive it during business hours but it's fine after 9pm mostly. :-D)

c) Probably about 10min away (longer by public transport possibly) is Universal Resort which includes the Citywalk area mentioned earlier. It will have bars/eateries that are opened later. Some good food there, various price ranges.

If you want to consider a breakfast meeting, the B-Liner Diner is really good and it's located in the Peabody hotel near the convention center. Other options are your usual Denny's/Perkins/Waffle House/Steak n' Shake/etc. places. I don't know of any unique places around I-Drive for breakfast beyond them.

just a quick update and it saddens me to do this....
but it IS a double edged sword....

I have paid for my tickets to the 4 days and ALMSOT paid for my flight...but on the eve of doing so the misses hit me with a surprise...she wants to have a child this year/try to have one.

So,like Wedge in ANH,i am pulling out of C5 for now at the earliest possible time.If anything changes i will let you all know.I was looking forward to meeting everyone, and this WOULD have been my 3rd SW con and my last if i had of went..TESB is my all time fav movie ever!!!
So,as of now,i regret i wont be going, but the possibility of having my first child sometime in the future is something ive wanted for 2 yrs!!!
Sorry to go off topic....
and on a sidenote,i emailed Mary Franklin who then put me onto the Head of Reed Exhibitions and after explaining my scenario they gave me my refund!!!very stoked they would do that for me!!!!
so now i will have to live it through you guys!!!

Whoa!! Great post m0reto!

I like the sound of the B-Liner...never been there, but the fact that it's in the Peabody makes it sound fancy.:) It would be great to have breakfast together to get the party started! :banana

Glennfett....I'm not much of a baby person....but I guess congratz. It still saddens me that ur not going. :( I thought it would have been fun to meet one of our Aussie Freaks...never met one before. :dunno

Oh well...I guess building a family is more priority then a silly SW convention. :lol

I'll officially take u out of the list :monkey2 :

Universal may be a good bet !

Most hotels have shuttles there too and we can do it well after the con into the night :rock

What do you guys think ?
