Can't watch the shows since I don't have a TV here, but I thought it was interesting. I did see the trailer for the series though, and while the new planets and the Enterprise look much better, the movement is the same--it's kind of weird. Supposedly it looks better, but I didn't see anything wrong with the quality when I watched the regular episodes on G4.

don't ***** about things until you've seen them. apparantly the new shots look exactly (exactly!) the same as the old ones. From the camera angle to the movement. they just look.... cleaner.

...what word did i say hat warranted it being censored out? I cant even remember what i typed. I know i didnt swear. maybe i said not to ***** about it... which just means complain. hmm....

I caught Balance of Terror last week and was surprised how subtle the new effects were. Just enough to clean up the problem areas and no more. I applaud their restraint.

Hm... in an unrelated note, my mom's prize ***** took Best ***** at last week's dog show.

What? It's a term to describe a female dog. What's wrong with a term to describe a female dog? Good thing I didn't post about my weekend making money betting on **** fighting.

I totally see your point. I think a lot of Trekkors are going to agree with you. But as a matter of personal taste, I boo and hiss their restraint. I caught the episode and frankly I had no idea that they were redone until I saw this thread and even then I had to look it up elsewhere for comfirmation. I truly thought I was watching the old f/x. I even thought to myself how bad the f/x in the 60s were. Especially the phaser explosions.

Amazon lists the actual MSRP as $198.99, and you can get it from them discounted 30% off for a total of $138.95 shipped. That's still more than I'm willing to pay, but if I wanted it I would much rather pay $138.95 than $217.99.

Yeah, but that should come with a Phaser remote control.

Oops...guess you need to buy a HD DVD player at the same time.

Well, I'm not going to buy another player just to get the remote.

But the Amazon "additional 10% off HD movies for one year" deal that some of us still have going does apply to this one, bringing the total down to $125 shipped. Still expensive--I ordered both Smallville and Heroes in HD for that price combined.

I think the worst part is that I was REALLY looking forward to this set, but now I wouldn't even think of buying it, even at the extreme "discount" I could get with the Amazon deal. Had it been a realistic MSRP, even something like $129, where discounts would have brought it down to around $79-89, I would have jumped on it. But this is just a great big NO SALE for me.

Wait for it on the Bay. I am sure it will be cheaper. I got ROME season 1 for $35 bucks or somewhere around there.

I already have the entire series on DVD. I'll definitely wait until I can get them for a good price before buying them again.

Yeah, but that should come with a Phaser remote control.

yes, and a couple of rounds with yeoman rand as well. :lol
