If you use the slim and the SS neck, you will have to make the neck hole on the slim larger.

Would I do that through melting or simple carving? Also, is the Slim the only body that would fit Palpatine's size class?

I would carve it it out. Either heat up the plastic (boiling water can do the trick or a hair dryer) and use a exacto knife.

Or easier, and less likely to scald or cut yourself is to use a dremmel to shave the opening to a larger size.

That is your opinion, personally I think he needs pants. First because it was advertised as such, second because of the price which was too high and accessories too less and no pants makes this even more sad or hilarious (depending on the point of view), then because other figures like this have it and there was no problem, and finally because it looks odd without these and I'm not sure they would be too bulky if tailored right. I don't need my figures to have underwear but at least pants under the robe yes. And the figure is not a piece of crap, in fact is one of my favorites (and I paid a lot for it), but SS got cheap on some of the accessories, but didn't go cheap on the price alas.

The pants were listed, but the inner robe was not. I think they just snafu'd and listed pants instead of the inner robe.

Anyway, I got a extra body and stuff from TA, will use the exclusive head for Darth Sidious.

I personally really think the figure sucks. Quite possibly Hot Toys has spoiled it all but I have to say I think this is a huge step BACKWARDS from Lando, Vader, Stromtrooper and even Obi-Wan AOTC and Ben Kenobi ANH (with respect, a huge step above Captain Piet)

In fact I was pretty shocked how little bashing SS was getting on this thread... must be used to mediocre efforts by them

1) Price. Normally I never _____ about this but the price is nearing double whatthey used to be and other than the crappy promethus there is noting to show for that at all. All other quality is still just as bad
2) bulky, unnatural robe, bunches at his arms, hood is too bulky, all wrong texture all over... just bad
3) Does not even have pants
4) Cane too short
5) Inner lining's waist tie looks like a joke...
6) No pants. Is it NEEDED? Maybe not but the thing cost upwards of 80 bucks, They culd have given him some damn pantaloons
7) the angry EX head is just so, so silly looking, I'm surprised so many are even using the damn thing
8) The reg head looks cheap, rough sculpt with a lot less fine detailings than most SS heads. Crappy paint. too-plasticy looking overall. Looks like he is wearing lipstick. barely looks like Mcdirmand unless you use trick photography. I pull the hood over the whole damn head and try to forget it's even there.
9) don't even get me started on the lightning
10) Pro. body. Willthey EVER getthis thing to not be so damn floppy? Hell Id prefer a buck at this point.


I can;t remember the lat time i hated something I got so much... I do... it was Leonidas, and compared to Palpatine, Leonidas is perfect. Usually I;m not so overtly hostile but this figure makes me downright angry

Only thing i agree with is the price and the cane. And i'm usually hard on SS's figs. I think it's a good job. I think Medicom and HT still do it better, but a good job can't be denied here IMO.

My pro body is good to, and i woulda be pissed as hell if it was not. So i can't comment there. (no excuse for SS to still have this problem)

I have to agree with a lot of points made in this thread. Although, remember that Sideshow's Darth Sideous didn't come with pants either.

As Sideshow continues to raise their prices, many flaws do become less tolerable. Design mistakes like the short cane shouldn't even happen. For the price Sideshow is charging, the addition of a smiling portrait would have made the figure more enticing.

At this point, any officer released other than Tarkin or Veers (who'll be a total fail without ATAT drivers or snowtroopers) will be a warehouse warmer.

I would think that the production cost won't be that high. Photography and box design aside, all that is required is a new head sculpt. Even with a smaller edition size, I don't really see Sideshow making a lost.

No officers should even be concidered before Tarkin. It's Tarkin then Piet and Anything else is bonus

tarkin, chewie and the 2 droids... The only real mandetorys left IMO
