I searched for a Bond 24 thread and didn't see one, thought it was time to create an official thread.

Last week came news that Sam Medez was close to returning to direct, this week that seems far more concrete.

New rumor that Penelope Cruz is Medez's pick for leading lady.

It looks like Sam Mendes is going to be back to direct the next Bond film, and after the huge commercial and critical success of Syfall I think we’re lucky to have him. Daniel Craig will also be back, but we already new that.

Enough about the men of the film, let’s get to why we’re really hear: the new Bond girl!

This time around it looks like Penelope Cruz is it, which is fitting since her husband Javier Bardem played the villain in Skyfall.

Here’s a source close to the production on Cruz:

“The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now.”

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

If it means we have the same cinematographer, then I'm all for Mendes returning! I love Skyfall. It's a great mix of modern Bond with classic Bond.

I really hope for the return of Quantum and Mr. White!

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

I loved Skyfall. My only issue with it is the wierdness of playing Bond as an oldie already when he only 'started' as a 00 in Casino Royale and QoS took place immediately after that film. Only the 3rd film and he's past it??

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

Cruz would terrible in a Bond film, espcially considering she's about 15 years past her prime. She was attrocious in On Stranger Tides.

:lecture

They almost had Racheal Weisz in the last one (she's married to Daniel Craig). I'd take her in a New York minute over Cruz but she just did the stupid Borne Lagacy film.

For the most part the best Bond girls were previously unknown (Diana Rigg being a notable exception). Look at Kim Basenger and Denise Richards. Both were horrible and had far too much screen time. When they take someone with a name they need to give them screen time and it doesn't always work out.

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

P Cruz...God no...might as well put Rosie Perez on that list!

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

Maybe she'll be like the last Bond Girl, and get shot in the face before she speaks.

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

I would just love Tilda Swinton as a fem villian...:lecture

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

3 words.....bring back Blofeld, surely there can't be anyone left alive who could legally block it now?

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

They should treat Casino, Quantum and Skyfall as an origin trilogy. With 'M', 'Q' and Miss Moneypenny firmly in place it can only get better and push the more fantasy elements of Fleming's villains into future films.

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

A little bit of that is perfectly fine. As long as they don't go overboard.

Re: Bond 24 - Title TBD

I want a laser satellite and an industrial lair filled with Asian factory workers in the next one.
