Wow...the attitude in this thread is ridiculous. I think this is an awesome looking statue, and I look forward to buying it.

BTW, I'm a guy, and I display my Spike PF with the human head. So let's stop this nonsense about the vamp head somehow being pandering. And also for the record, I passed on the Willow statue exactly because it was too tarted up for the character. The Faith statue isn't as big an issue for me, as Faith was referred to as rather slutty. The statue doesn't seem anywhere near as out of character as Willow's.

And also, Spike carried stakes quite often in the latter seasons of Buffy.

WOW - impressive! Won't be going for it (can't stretch to that) but it's certainly a great likeness and good choice for the pose - up there with the quality of Faith.

I'll look forward to seeing more pictures of the base - would like to think it has some sort of floor under the plinth to match the style of Faith's base - they'd sit well together like that.

I thought we'd be seeing Angel first lol

Looks to me like there is a seam around his neck which tells me the human switch out head is certain!

Doesn't anyone believe me? I mentioned that there IS a switch out. I wasn't guessing..it's cause I know...

Have you ever been over to Joss Whedons fan site Whedonesque? The place I regularly pimp this site too? Well If you had you'd see that many people had issues with the direction this line has taken so far as well. People who well, just weren't me.

Also on Live Journal (which is the home of a still very active Buffy fanbase) quite a few people didn't care for the overly sexualized look to Willow and the odd choice of how to depict Buffy to say nothing of the (imo) dodgy likeness.

I'm sorry that you both think I'm trying to harsh anyone's 'squee' but I have what I feel are genuine concerns with aspects of this line. You're more then entitled to express your opinion on this and yet don't seem keen on hearing any decenting voices?

Yes, I gather that you appear to have some kind of connection with the Sideshow, so forgive me for asking this but is that why you appear to be bothered by those who still have issues with this line?

For me It's not so much the sculpting (which is superb by the way) but the choices Sideshow are making in how they depict the characters. Imo they appear to be targeting this line at mainly men, and so imo that accounts for the overly sexualized portrayal of the women we're seeing, and which some on here have already pointed out is totally inappropriate when it comes to Willow as she was shown in the series.

When It comes to Spike I'm an awful lot happier to hear that the human faced version is not the exclusive but is the default, as I feel there's been so many vamp face versions of him in the past that we could could do with a better portrait sculpt of him.

So all in all I'm looking forward to seeing what will be going up on the Sideshow site today.

maybe, but they leave it over there. they don't come to a "Sideshow" fan site to slam the products. that kind of attitude kinda ruins it for the rest of us who are just grateful we're getting any kind of quality Buffy statues.

But I don't 'come' anywhere to do anything like that. I've been a member here for a good few years now, and I'd hope people would understand that. I just didn't join to bash Sideshow and If you'd gone back through all my posts I think you'd realise that.

I never get that some only seem to want to hear priase for something and get 'funny' when others try and voice areas of genuine concern.

Also considering how bloody expensive these things are I'm not going to be grateful for something that I don't feel lives up to the ideals/quality of the TV series.

I'm sure I wouldn't be so critical If this hadn't been based on a series who's underlying premise was about the idea of female empowerment in the form of metaphor.
