I bought the Sideshow Mual in November of 2016 and today decided to move him for the very first time ever. He is like a rag doll now. His legs are worse than the Jawa set that I returned. Even with the stand he just flops forward and falls over.

Weird that your body is so loose. I don’t have that issue at all with mine

I have a Bank Robber Joker like that too. Floppy as can be. I have to position him just right or else he falls. My Maul is still tight though.

It annoys me that I just can’t seem to straighten the lightsaber completely with hot water. It’s still not entirely a straight line and I just can’t unsee it... anyone has a trick? ...or will this be the reason why I’ll eventually buy the HT version for the saber and accessories?

Wondering if the heads are interchangeable between HT and SS?

I haven't seen validation, but it seems like the HT body has the neck sculpted to it, so you'd have to fully replace the HT Maul body, but if you did that, you could swap the Sideshow neck onto it, but then you can't use the HT head anymore, or you could add a magnet into the Sideshow head, not sure if the necks are the same size though so it may look off. It seems like swapping isn't really viable, so you'd almost have to commit to making one "Ultimate" Maul and once you do your customizations, you live with it forever.

If you want to put the SS head on the HT body, it might work if you just use some blu tack.
If you wanted to go the other way(And i don't know why anyone would, lol), you'd just need to alter the SS neck to remove the peg, and once again, use some blu tack.

After watching the I Am Toys review my last doubt is gone. I am no fan of the HT sculpts and build. I am assured that I already own the best looking Maul. I will try and get some of the accessories though. ...and if I can’t find what I need, maybe buy the whole Dx17 set and maybe sell the figure and keep the accessories.

I now have both versions in hand and I must say the HT version is underwhelming. Although the saber accessories are great and have better / crisper detailing than the sideshow version, the headsculpt just doesn’t come anywhere near the SSC version. I Never thought I’d say that sentence, but for me the SSC headsculpt is an almost perfect depiction of Darth Mauls appearance in TPM. Also the HT version looks too squat and he has an almost non existent neck.

Yes, it is pretty surprising. But still I always thought that the SSC sculpt would be really hard to beat and the HT never seemed to get close.
You should share your thoughts on the HT Maul thread as it’s good to hear from someone who owns both. :)

My Sideshow Darth Maul v2 arrived today. Grabbed him on eBay for a good price. I’m really blown away by the headsculpt. Just snapped a few quick pics after unboxing:

Yes, he looks real right? ...and that last b/w picture really shows that.

Looks great! Just futz the robes a bit more, put him in a dynamic pose and this will look even better! In my collection Maul draws my attention right away. Sideshow nailed this figure...

Congrats on getting one of the early production figures with the proper paint, that one is amazing, the second wave is a major downgrade.

Thanks guys! I definitely need to do some more futzing and get creative with the poses. This is such a photogenic figure.

Slikkerias: awesome shot. Such a fierce looking sculpt. They did a fantastic job capturing his look from TPM.
