Super Freak
Thanks for posting the party of the apes Jess. I didn't know about it. I just put my camcorder back in the pawn shop, but if I get paid before Sunday, I'll pull it out & video tape it & post some screen grabs...
Angel, I think the grey Caesar Statue looks awesome. Now you've intimidated me in painting mine... Please, Please PM me regarding what paints you used and an overview of how you did it....
Hasselin- - I used Citadel paints for Caesar. That grey statue I posted last week was not done. Here's a real quick indoor picture of the current Caesar statue. Can you see the brown I put in it?
I used Charadon Granite as the base coat. I then drybrushed Adeptus Battle grey very lightly over that. I then used Codex grey and drybushed that on as well. I used Devlan Mud (maybe even some black) as a wash to fill in the cracks and crevices and then mixed together some codex grey with some acrylic white paint and dry brushed even more highlights. Once all that was done I thought it was just too grey and needed a touch of brown so I used a real thin coat of devlan mud and a touch of gryphonne sepia.
There's no real formula to follow here. I would suggest you take breaks and be critical of your work. What looks good right now may not look good enough to you tomorrow. It took me about 1 week to get it to the point that I finally liked it. Here is the final grey statue with touches of brown in it.
