can you people stop posting for 20 minutes?

It's hard to read to the end of the thread then refresh just before I post, only to find another 15 posts.

bah.

They are hitting their shipping marks by getting stuff in the quarter they said.

Actually both Amon Hen and Sauron were 4th quarter releases. I think if those both hit their original dates, then the problem would be much less pronounced.

If you guys think this is bad, good thing you don't collect Master Replicas SW props. $1,400 AT-AT, $400 Special Ops helm, and $400 Shock Troop helm all coming within the next 6 weeks. :thud

Having a couple enviros and helms ship at the same time is nothing compared to that. :lol

I'm glad that I've been able to restrict my addiction to LOTR statues and not Star Wars. If I had succumb to that, I would be homeless by now.

I could reply to a dozen or two dozen things in this thread.

but basically I'll make my addition thus:

Quote:
That'll be a first.

Quote:
I stand by the approach that this could have been handled a lot better and, furthermore, this can only get worse as the end of year approaches. Christmas is a bloody expensive time as it is but with some high end statues on the horizon, hard times will continue.

For almost everything you've said in this thread CCT, I've been agreeing with or at least, seeing your point of view clearly. But one thing that came to mind when I read "christmas is a bloody expensive time..." I remembered seeing your picture with two Cave troll statues. That made me think- really, if you're personally upset about the times ahead, you yourself can fix it without any problem by selling one. The end. I know that can be tough since you like them both, and they both look great displayed at the same time but if you want to easily cover yourself, thats one very excellent financial blanket.

Quote:
It does get old when people like you seem to feel the need to point it out. Just read the post and make a reply if you feel the need otherwise who gives a fly @#%$ about my grammar.

I really get frustrated with your spelling. I would consider your grammar to be not terribly bad, the spelling really gets on my nerves, Josh, over the long term.

But now I can say- I don't have anything except Sauron on order. I resisted ordering everything except one major expensive item and I got it through an amazing board dealer, and he's been wonderful to help with the fact that the item shipped months before I was expecting.

So, I really feel for those who want to get items but cannot afford them all at one moment, with all the shipping and applicable importing fees.

This may be a good time to promote Adam, Bob, Marc and Michael.

I had thought of that (briefly) in the past but they are pretty much irreplaceable. Cave Trolls are so easily damaged and I wouldn't want to post one again, especially when I know it would be unlikely that I would eevr get one back again.

'Never say never' but this is the exception.

Hi just reading this STORM of hysteria here and its kinda funny but kinda sad too that everyone gets into a state over opinions and whatnot and then it gets personal and there are even grammar lessons too.... wow.... so much for so little!!
Anyway just wanted to say that yes I think we are responsible for buying and clicking away when these statues etc are announced but most of us are completists in one area or another, either busts or statues and when we see LTD Editions coming out of course we are going to slap an order on them and I think most of us thought that (as it was in the past) SS would not necessarily ship on time and/or ship all at same time but it has been my belief since that awful CUTTING OFF of the LOTR line that SS wants to move on and get em out there whether we can afford them or not!!!
So maybe we are GREEDY for wanting it all but aren't SS a little GREEDY too?

No, I agree with you! I think we got so used to SS shipping things late we just took it for granted that we would be safe with whatever we ordered. I certainly did!

:mwaha That is exactly it, we were all HOPING for the deep breath before the plunge. :eek

BRING EM ON!!! :lol I do agree on the shipping part trying to combine orders that are shipping at the same time would be nice.

If I recall correctly, December last year was also a major shipping time. Isn't it preferable for everything to come in September, rather than December?

Although the 4th quarter is pretty heavy too, I think...

I can't remember, but it's always seemed manageable before. Believe me, it has to be drastic for me to sell 15 statues!

There's a lot shipping now as well as in the coming months. If some of the rider statues are aimed for the 1st quarter and Sideshow are aiming to get things shipped quickly, this could mean January/February which is when many are financially crippled after Christmas.

There is no easy solution now. Many collectors will have to cancel some orders or sell existing statues to fund others.

That's exactly right. We're all fitting into a funnel, in a way, getting squeezed tighter and tighter as we go through time, until it's all over and we're finally out.

I'm glad some others are with me in the nothing-besides-LOTR camp. I like the other stuff a lot, but I know my limit.

CCT- What I find a bit saddening is that people will sell off older more classic aged statues for the newer ones. The way that feels is people losing their individuality in their own older owned collections to the reality of the current all having the same items (more or less)... Of course there's nothing REALLY wrong with it, but it's just discouraging that I can't see people being excited still by their pitmasters and Urukhai swordsmen, orc warriors, Arwens, Legolases, etc... and actually *limiting* their purchases of new things to just 1-2 or 3 out of who-knows-how-many there are coming up... 8? 10? MORE??

I agree. I did however sell my Moria Archer and Swordsman recently but the reason for that is that bring in a lot of money and I know I will be able to get them back as they are always on ebay.

I could have sold some less valuable ones but I would have had to sell about seven or eight for the same amount of money.

Thing is, if we accept the Q3 argument, there's 92 days in the quarter. So why all at once? Even at monthly intervals, it would be easier.

It can't be that difficult, surely :dunno :dunno :dunno

TC :bonk :eye :bonk

I'd like to see a couple of pictures of the storage space Sideshow uses!

Someone who works at Sideshow ought to get a digital camera, and stand in one very well chosen spot in the warehouse and just snap pictures while rotating in a circle.

Also, we could see piles of certain product shipping boxes, just for the delight of it.

I doubt we'd ever see that, but it'd be more likely than seeing pictures of the production areas, those that get locked down during customer visits.

During my vacation to the maritimes in July, I was in a Nova Scotia vineyard and down in the basement there's a small but very potent storage space, holding nothing but boxes of wine. lots.. and lots, and even more lots. I would like just to see something like that in pix from the Sideshow facilities.

edit- I'd also like to revise a statement I made a little while ago- I'm "mostly" just a LOTR collector, but when I said I'm nothing-but-LOTR, I had forgot my variety of items from other lines, most notable being my 2 James Bond figures, the Alien Queen bust, the Homer & Mr. Burns simpson busts, and the Insanely Twisted Rabbit.

These are just representatives, I am not going to really delve repeatedly into any line like TLOTR... not like I know some people are doing from LOTR into the Star Wars line (which is definitely fine to do if one can afford both the money and the display space!)

Yeah I would say that anyone who forked out enough $$$ for the Alien Queen is not ONLY a LOTR collector. :p
