Hawks are on a tear right now. It doesn't seem to matter who's in goal, the boys are just taking care of business. Big win against the Preds puts them at 1st in the division. Man, the Western Conference race is going to be tight all year long. So many good teams.

I have to hand it to the Hawks, they are one of the best teams in the league, if not a 1a/1b to the LA Kings of the past four'ish years. I am hoping my Pens can win a Cup again, and I have a feeling our chance of that happening hasn't been this good since, well, 2009. The difference from previous campaigns, minus injuries, this year we have a seemingly competent coach that has all aspects of the team running thoroughly. All 4 Penguin lines have made a dent/damage into the opposition, which was a problem under Blysma. We had such an incompetent bottom six. So it's nice to see all 4 lines producing. Our young D have flourished despite losing two important pieces (Niskanen and Orpik) due to Free Agency, and Fleury has been playing like a Vezina candidate. I also like Greiss a lot for insurance. Not that it's needed. Fleury didn't burn us last playoffs. Our top skaters did, and Blysma's lack of evolving his strategy. Attacking systems, and employing a more aggressive game. He pretty much kept to the same old game plan.

Injuries are killing us now though, every year seems the injury bug hits hard

Tonight is another fine example of why the Pens will never win another cup with Flower in goal

Make ****ing save man

One game doesn't a season make. Yes, I meant to phrase it that way. I have no problem with you having an opinion, but when he's pretty much played lights out for almost every game and has put up Vezina-isque numbers, you don't give him props. One game that may not be to your liking... and the sky is falling. I am a logical guy. At least I like to think I am, and this just lacks... that... logic. Again, and I can't make this more clear... One game does not make a season. Everyone has a bad game. Even the Haseks, Roys, and Brodeurs of the hockey world.

Eli,

You justify his play every season and just won't accept that he's a streaky player who seems to choke in the playoffs outside of their one win. I don't think he's the worst there is, but he's hardly elite either.

He's been to the show twice and won once. Last year wasn't his fault. It was the guys in front of him that failed him. That's not saying he's elite, just stating the facts, although his numbers this campaign would have you believe otherwise. My point is, and it clearly went over your head, my Fleury posts were never meant for anyone in mind, but Deeznutz, who always seems to come out and bash the guy (his own player on his team) for one out of a dozen games he has off... it becomes rather tiresome and annoying. Like, oh yeah, so he had a meh game, but how about all those other games he's been great. Again, this has nothing to do with you or anyone else, but Deez as a supposed Pens fan, who knows only only one thing to talk about in this thread... how to tear apart his goalie for the one millionth time. Sure, he may discuss other stuff, but it's buried under the plethora of Fleury sucks posts.

As a Pens fan who sees a pretty good goalie for most games these past few years, I have to shake my head and go, okay...

For the future, I suggest you ignore my Fleury posts, because I am a fan of the guy and the team he plays for and I'll defend him, especially when a fellow so-called fan of the same team makes silly posts.

Reason I say this because it won't stop.... this is between me and Deez. But maybe it should, because clearly we'll always agree to disagree. Again, that goes for Deeznutz and myself. I feel like I have to explain this.

Anyway, moving onto bigger and better things...

My Winnipeg Jets are 15-9-5. Think they can maintain this? They have done well against some good teams, but their core is no different from year's past... and this is a core that has teased only to disappoint in the end.

Also, what are the Capital fans thoughts on Barry Trotz so far? And ouch on the Filip Forsberg for the Martin Erat trade. Glad George McPhee is gone.

I have barely watched the Caps this year. I'm burned out on mediocrity so I check scores and watch a few min here and there, but honestly I'm to the point where I don't think any coach can fix this mess. The Caps a major problem.......they are paying a player 9 million bucks a season to be a one time slap shot PP specialist and they are paying two other players who are NEVER healthy a combined 10.7 million. I can't even talk about the Erat trade because I about threw my TV out the window when it happened. In short it's going to take YEARS to fix McFly's mess.

Forsberg: 27-12-15-27 (tops for goals and points among all rookies) and a +23 rating, which is tops among all NHLers.

And then there's 33-year-old Erat who's not even playing at a fraction of Forsberg's performance.... Everyone in the hockey world feels your pain.

Sigh

Dude, for a smart and knowledgable hockey guy you always zero in on the same thing and I'm not sure why

Where did my post state fleury sucks?

I said we won't win another cup with him Because when push come to shove he doesn't have what it takes. Talk about all his stats this year which I will give him credit for. But I only care about the stats that led to cups. What's oour record against our toughest foes this year and what is his gaa? Rangers, isles and flyers have all run up the score on us this year and again on Monday he let in a softie.

I'm not going to cheer for someone just because they are on the team I love. I don't think he's is an elite goalie that will carry this team, and I hve stats to prove it you you don't. Every year we go through this, and it's the same rhetoric from you, but every year we don't win the cup so what the **** are you hanging on to?

Yes last year wasn't his fault like other years, but that Columbus series was alot closer than it should have been, because of who? You guessed it dippity doo fleury bumbling the puck around. And against the Rangers when we needed him to shut the door, he didn't, like lundquist or price does

Good golie yes
Above average goalie yes
Elite goalie not a chance
Carry this team in the playoffs never going to happen

I also love bugging you Deez. You're becoming one of my favs on here. I have to give you a difficult time.

So don't sigh. Embrace it you closet Montreal Canadiens fan. ;)

Lol, have to admit now that they got rid of a lot of those losers from the early 2000's I do root for them most nights.

Catch the Beliveau ceremonies today? Very touching , check the cournoyer eulogie

Yeah, I had the privilege of meeting Jean Beliveau. Still have his autograph. It is so sad to see such a gentle giant leave this world.

Another great game between the Hawks and the Bruins. Gotta love the tight games these 2 teams always seem to have between each other. Just hope Toews doesn't have a concussion. That was an awkward looking shot he took along the boards from Seidenberg.

Concerning Toews, I used to live just a block or two away from the guy and his family. Hope he's alright.

He didn't fit Claude's system!!!!!

At least that's what Chiarelli and Neely feed the local media on a weekly basis as the Bruins continue struggling to score.:(

Looks like Toews is OK. He'll be playing tonight and is saying he's fine. Passed all the concussion protocol tests so he's good. Big relief given the fact he has a prior history with concussions. On another note, looks like Darling is getting another start tonight in goal. His 4th straight. It seems he may have taken over the back up spot. The thing is, Raanta hasn't done anything to lose the job. It's incredible to see all 3 goalies playing so well. Darling is a beast in size as well. Dudes 6' 6". For such a big goalie he moves real well. Nice problem for Q to have choosing between them.
