Also, I'm hoping that Minimates will fit into the Delorian. By the looks of how the steering wheel fits, this may not be the case, but that will be the factor determining if I buy one or not.

If its the same mold as the older ones they will fit. I have my Delorean at work and I just put an Iron Man Minimate in there. It was a tight fit under the steering wheel, but it can be done.

Also, since Minimates are modular, you could remove the legs and just have the torso in the car which would look just as good from the outside.

Not a bad base model at all for $33. Some simple custom detail painting and this thing will look that much better.

Do you think it is based off of the Sun Star molds?

Definitely the Sun Star molds...I have all 4 of them and was planning to put lights in mine...as well as switching the bodies to the 'regular' Sun Star Delorean bodies and re-doing the wiring down the sides since they made a mistake on the rear wheel wells and wrapped the wiring around to the bottom when it should go up onto the rack on the back.

I might have to get these Diamond versions with lights and use them as part of my kitbashes to perfect the other 4 Deloreans....

I still like my Sun Star version:

But the lights are too cool to pass up so I'll gladly buy one... :D

Cool, but actually, that's the 1/24 WELLY version there, not the 1/18 SUN STAR

According to the write-up on BTTF.com, these are closer to 1/14 than 1/18 as the SunStar was about 10" long and these are closer to 14" long! :rock

Diamond has been identifying the new vehicles as 1:18 scale cars, but clearly the size is much bigger than 1:18 scale (the size of Sun Star's DeLoreans - about 10 inches long). My estimate is that the car is closer to 1:14 scale.

Still, all the inaccuracies point to it being the Sun Star molds scaled up. The lights look really, really cool...and I like the idea of the bigger size. I just hope they make them more accurate...and give us the 2 versions from BTTF III as well! :rock

What is the best Delorean time machine released? I have the Corgi version that came with a die-cast Doc.

Just checked, mine is 1:36 in scale.

Huh, well i'll be damned! I think you're right. It's been ages since I actually looked at it closely, lol. Plus it's mounted to the display base so I can't even look at the bottom... :monkey5

WICKED! Just noticed from a post on Cooltoyreview that my feedback to DST about the inaccuracies on their BTTF DeLorean prototype has been posted in their new blog update! :rock'

I’m really excited about the DST light up Back To The Future DeLorean replicas shown at ToyFair. I have a couple of questions about them. First off, they appear to be made from the Sun Star 1/18 molds. BTTF.com mentioned that there will be some updates to some of the ‘inaccuracies’ seen on these. Wondering if that will include the wiring that wraps all the way around the rear wheel well (should go up into the rear deck) and the fact that there should be an ‘armature’ on the sides of BOTH exhaust vents at the back, not just one. These 2 inaccuracies always especially bothered me about the Sun Star. Also, will we see the BTTF III whitewall and railroad versions as well? That would be GREAT to have all 4 versions from each of the films. Thanks!

DSTChuck: To be honest I think the base was several kits and designs BUT what you saw was not final and we’re consulting with several BTTF experts to make sure these are as accurate as possible...We HOPE to do three versions of the DeLorean.

that sounds promising but i want all 4 versions. i like the white-walled version with the giant electronics on the hood. seems that will probably be the one that doesn't get made.

does anybody here own that flux capacitor? is it kick-ass? i was thinking about getting one and mounting it in my truck cuz i got sport bucket seats and that would fit perfectly on the rear wall between the seats. would that be too nerdy?

Nah, my guess is the RAILROAD version won't get made. They're already making PART I and PART II...if they do a third version, my bet is that it will be the whitewall version with the hood components...

Umm, do you want me honest answer?? :lol

Looks to me like they're re-sissues of the 1/25 WELLY versions that came out a few years ago...
