What are the chances NECA will try again with both the Scheider estate and Dreyfus? Don't know much about how these negotiations work. Is it something they could circle back to in the future or is it dead and buried? I assume all parties could come to the table again, but like I said, not really sure how these kind of things work. If they try again I hope they make it part of the ultimate line instead of the retro.

Given that orders were solicited and some level of production pushed forward, I would say that all efforts have been exhausted already. If NECA tried to release a figure with a Scheider likeness after this, people are going to hesitate because of this mess and not everyone follows social media to see any posts explaining that it would be different next time.

I would say zero unfortunately.

Depends on what the issue was. If the estate wasn’t a fan of the retro style, the more traditional 7” figures might be possible. But I’m doubtful it was something like that at this stage. It’s possible someone else might try but it does seem likely Neca will be done trying.

It's very possible they will try again. None of us know anything about what happened. And I want 7" AND retro 8" figures.

Very possible is a stretch, at least for rounding out the Retro line. If there were any hope to get the Retro figures out, NECA would have just delayed the release of Brody. They were already taking orders with vendors and such, they would not put themselves in a position to tell collectors sorry to get your hopes up for nothing, unless that was the very last option available to them.

Is there a possibility for the more realistic style, traditional action figures from them, yes, I don't think it's a high possibility, but, if the issue came down to how the Retro figures look compared to what a traditional NECA figure would look like, then of course the solution is simple, but who knows how much, if any, work NECA has put into doing those types of figures of the guys to appease that, or if they'd even want to. Retro figures are much easier to produce. The costumes are simple, the bodies are re-used, much less tooling and molding which is probably why they went for Retro in the first place. I believe that Retro is the choice of figure style for things they feel would not sell well enough to justify the costs of traditional figures.

This all reminds me of when NECA started shipping out that leather jacket version of Freddie Mercury and had to recall them for some unknown reason. Obviously speculation was that the estate wanted them all pulled, I think it ended up being something like NECA thought they had approval, but the estate never approved it. It must've been something like the licensing agent told NECA to go ahead, but the estate never actually approved.

It’s a side of the business I would love to see and understand but will always remain a secret to those on the outside.

I remember JAKKS released their first Apollo Creed figures and then got into issues over the Carl Weathers likeness and reissued that figure and all future figures with an close enough portrait but not Weathers’ face specifically.

Production gallery of Quint.

Looks good and will probably buy if I see it in store, but still annoyed he's by himself. Are they still doing the shark?

Beyond the one behind the scenes shot, hasn't been any more talk about the shark I was actually wondering if they wouldn't just cancel Quint as it's not a figure you want alone in a collection. Have to figure Bruce is coming to warrant Quint, you'd think they'd reveal it before Quint release so people keep orders or make purchases knowing they'll have something for him to go with.

Ugh... I have no idea if I should keep this or not. It looks terrible, like something I would have bought 20 years ago.

But then its the only Quint merchandise around....

Looks good. I do not like Mego-style but this could be the only Quint we ever get.

I don't have any Neca Mego-style figures, but I do have Mego figures from when I was a kid. I do not know the quality of these figures. Based on the images his clothes look stiff. Does not seem like you can get them to hang naturally. I dig the sculpt. It's not great but Quint is there. The proportions always seem off and they look stumpy. The only ones I've seen (not in person) that I kind of like are the Loomis and Laurie figures.

Not a fan of the clothing, but as others have already pointed out: it's the only Quint out there (or will be).

BBTS is still claiming January 2021. Not holding my breath...
