Not unrealistic enough to expect an overhaul, but if they carried out the basic mods that people have done themselves here to thin out the face and applied a slightly better finish to the eyes and paint, I'd be happy.

I ordered Drake from a UK Sideshow dealer who haven't received stock of the figure yet. I'm hoping the delay will mean that the QC on the sculpt will improve.

Personally, I thought the proto paint job looked all wrong and nearly didn't order in the first place because of it.

From the posts I've seen, it appears that its the luck of the draw on how bad the head is you receive?!

It really is luck, mine haven't been bad at all, my second has a really good sculpt. September is expected release for UK so I couldn't be arsed waiting!

Just about done with a repaint and mod of Drake... still need some clean-up (especially the eyes), but I think it's a definite improvement.

jeebus!!! that's great!! what all did you do to the eyes?? was there re-sculpting in there?? great great job!!!

No resculpting to the eyes. But I did grind down the faceplate and reshaped the jaws with the hot cold trick.

For the eyes I just repainted them and rimmed the top lid in a darker color. And redid the rest of the paint, but used the original skin as a base. That way it was easier to match the body.

Indeed on all points! the good news is that with some pretty minor fiddles, he looks great! brings to mind the HT Indy... with some MAJOR fiddles... he looks "ok"....

Are you weathering up his clothes and arms etc? I think it'd look odd with just his face done.

I'm just altering/painting the head... I just happen to have purchased a couple of the Drake bodies so I had one on hand for color matching.

But I believe the outfit is already weathered from Sideshow, and adding a bit to the body wouldn't be too difficult.
