Is that the throwback poster where he's holding the disc above his head with her next to him? I have that one as well - great looking poster. They also did one (international perhaps - never saw it around here) that's a longer shot of them in the same pose.

Speaking of which, how do you guys display all these posters ?

Do you display them at all ?

Do you cycle ?

I personally have all my SW's (OT of course) displayed. But what about the rest :(
 
As I said in the first post, I used to cycle. I have 4 regular frames and two lighted frames, and I'd swap in six new posters each month.

But in my new bar, I only have the two lighted posters that I swap. I do it fairly often though, and right now Adjustment Bureau and Cowboys and Aliens are up, soon to be replaced by Sucker Punch (just bought one this week), and something yet to be determined.

The four other frames are running down the hallway in my basement, and are permenant displays for Gremlins, Back to the Future, The Thing and one TBD.
 
I got a Rambo 4 two sided poster (rolled) straight from the movie theatre from a buddy

The first double sided poster wasn't created until the 90s I believe.

For SW it's a crap shoot since repros are extremely common (no double sided originals there). My rolled SW is actually from the video release of the film. But the only difference between it and a theatrical release is that it has a Lucasfilm copyright under the image and the theatrical had a Fox copyright. Both have a Fox copyright at the very bottom.

I also like to collect unusual ones like lenticulars or mylars (I have a Superman '78 on mylar).

I have an original DS Goodfellas poster, so they definitely started doing it by 1990. On the Spiderman's, I am pretty sure if it is lighter on the back, it is original.
 
I wouldn't say I 'collect' but I have a handful that I rotate into my home theatre.

And I bought the Transformers posters before I saw the flick...

There are tons I'd love to buy and display, but cash is tight and diapers>posters. lol

Been collecting movie posters for close to 30 years now, its a great hobby to have and for the most part be semi expensive depending on how and what posters you get.

A good place to get poster frames is hollywoodposterframes.com, they ship anywhere, make quality frames for the price, been using them for over 15 years. I use both the archival and deluxe.

One of the things anyone really getting into collecting has to realize is that once you put a poster in a good frame, it should stay in there, the newer posters can be removed (though I wouldn't recommend it) but the older stuff, especially linenbacked, removing them can create damage to corners. Older posters, pre 1990's are folded quite a bit more, so once they get into frames, they are even harder to remove.

I've got about 400+ posters and about 50+ in frames, once I moved to my current location, I've only hanged about 5 frames, my older place in Alaska had about 20 spots on the wall. My most expensive posters would prolly be my one sheet "to catch a thief" or my one sheet "goldfinger" , both are linen backed but look fantastic, but my favorite would be my "Jaws" one sheet, which hangs over my sideshow Jaws maquette in my office.

I try and get a lot of off style sheets too, like Star Wars style D, which is my favorite of the 4 primary styles, though I have the style A as well. I've got a nice collection of Hammer Film posters and some neat euro stuff like "Danger:Diabolik" and "Suspira".

I seem to remember we've had this discussion before - but the doublesided from the 50s to the 80s were few and far between and were more specialty product rather than the norm. I was working in a movie theater 85-94 and we never got double-sided posters in until the early 90s.

As for Hollywood Book & Poster - I used to buy from them a lot. Pretty sure they're all original - they run out fast of popular titles and some (like WB) they hardly get any in at all.

No, they weren't common, as I said. They were far too expensive to produce, so they were only for very special situations. They started showing up more in the late 80's, and by the mid-90's they were the standard.

Anyone have any consistent luck with reducing fold lines? I have a couple I'd like to experiment with, but was wondering if anyone else had some pointers.
