No, not really but then again that's a different thing. What makes Flosi's awesome is that it's a conversation place for all kinds of talk. Started out as SW talk and then moved to talking about just about anything and regulars returning again and again just to "hang out" with specific people. This thread will find it's stride, which might just be nothing but gif explosions.

Content is how you get it to stay. More than just gif postings. If the mods see that actual conversation is occurring, ironically like this, then it stays. If it becomes a straight picture post or gif explosion it'll be thrown into the sandbox.

We use too many gifs some times but we are actually talking
we would put more text without a gif but its pretty much the same imo

the reason the gif thread is in sandbox is because it doesnt contribute to post count, just spamming gifs in other sections adds to posts, and against the rules I believe..
