he is more american action than british sauve. so has bond come around full circle?

And ironically he's British.

Your comments remind me of commentary of the House DVD after they screen tested Hugh Laurie.

"He's perfect - thank god we found an American actor".

"err... he's English."

When I googled "Solid Snake" the Wikipedia entry was no 1 - para 6 of it states:

The NES port of Metal Gear was an unexpected million-seller when it was released in North America.

Not sure what you googled but I certainly didn't get a heap of foreign sites.

thanks for the link. i don't play many video games. last ones i played was diablo and prey. i like to get out and hike in the woods, or get in the car and roam mostly. i do feel that most everything has influences from different cultures, however there's nothing wrong with being a proud american. especially when we are taking black eyes left and right from other people and cultures around the world almost daily. more people should take pride in american culture. :monkey3

btw, the eagles suck!! :lol i have a friend that's pro eagle and she gets disappointed year after year. :monkey2

Hey, no problem
I appreciate the outdoors life, I am a camper/hiker myself. I don't know, there is something so natural a freeing about hiking.
A lot of the bad press we Americans have received, especially after September 11th, I believe we have brought upon ourselves. When I say "we" of course I am referring to those who have made the decisions that have made our country look bad to the world. We, as American citizens also have to remember we are citizens of the world, when our economy suffers the world economy suffers, and when we make mistakes it hurts everyone, not just us. But that is neither here nor there.
Now, you can rip Sean Connery as Bond, you can call Jack Bauer and Jason Bourne weak, you can even totally miss the point with Solid Snake and tell me I need to do more research and I won't be offended.
BUT, when you make fun of the Eagles, the team that represents the birthplace of our great country, then I am going to have to ask you to step outside! So my dad will call your dad and they can duke it out over the phone. You didn't take my feelings into account, and now you will have to sit in timeout. :monkey1

:lol i do like connery in almost every role including bond. he is bond in my eyes. and i kid about the eagles. i have a couple of friends that are diehard eagles fans and when the broncos bite the big one, i'm usually cheering the eagles on. i'd like to see mcnabb win the big game just once.

googled 'Solid/Liquid/Naked Snake'. keep in mind, i didn't know they were separate games because i never heard of them. you guys are tough.

I like "Raiders of the Lost Ark" better than any of the Bond films, but in terms of which series is better, I find the 007 franchise much better as a whole.
First of all, the Bond movies were based on a series of fairly well-written books that served as a strong backbone that established a well-defined universe for later writers to pen original stories for film.
The first Bond films were very original and each one was different enough from the past one to remain enjoyable. Certainly the series went up and down, with some of the later Moore films being silly, the Dalton ones being a bit dull and the Brosnan movies becoming more and more ridiculous as they went on. But the series as a whole allowed for re-invention -- and that has made 22 films possible.
Spielberg and Lucas hit it out of the park with Raiders -- that film really caught lightning in a bottle (to use another cliche), and while the first two sequels were highly enjoyable, Lucas and Spielberg did not allow the series to evolve.
Obviously a secret agent who travels the world on secret missions allows for many great possibilities, while an archeologist may be a lot more limited.
The problem with the Indiana Jones series is that, aside from "Temple of Doom," the "Last Crusade" and "Crystal Skull" stuck very closely to the "Raiders" formula, and for me that just makes for a boring film. I think Lucas' biggest mistake was his reliance on a "McGuffin" -- it always had to be some legendary artifact that "the bad guys" were also after. I enjoyed "Temple of Doom" much more than the last two installments because it was so different. And in sticking to the "Raiders" McGuffin formula, you only invite comparisons to the original -- and no Indy film will be better than the first.
While the Young Indy TV series wasn't great, it did manage to flesh out Indy and put him in very different adventures.
Instead of focusing on that TV series, it would have been great for Lucas to bring that same talented team together on a series of films that expanded Indy's adventures in the cinema beyond just "racing against bad guys to find a lost artifact."
We could have had Indy as a secret agent during World War II, finding lost civilizations, even alien encounters (as long as they were done more originally than the hokey Crystal Skull). Indy films could have been part Bond, part "X-Files," part "Dirty Dozen," part "African Queen" and part "She."
Instead we've gotten Raiders of the Lost Ark, Raiders of the Lost Shankara Stones, Raiders of the Lost Holy Grail, and Raiders of the Lost Crystal Skull.

Bond. James Bond.

Casino Royale is the best, and I like atleast one from each Bond, thats 7, vs 4...so...

I have to go with Indy. ROTLA is definantly my favorite out the Indy series and one of my all time favorite movies period but TOD had my some of my all time favorite and most memerable scenes mainly the dinner scene and the mine chase.

Never been a super huge Bond fan unfortunantly but Jaws is easily my favorite Bond villian. When he eats the shark in The Spy Who Loved me is classic.

Watched some of Dr. No today. Some great stuff in there...and some not so great. Hate the opening credits, and the non stop use of the Bond theme. But other then that, its great.

I love 'em both but I had to go with Bond...

I am curious to why Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was not included in the poll??? I would think that all would agree that there have been a few stinky bond pictures... Why was Indy's crap movie not included if the bond ones were?

Well look at the date of the original post. :sick

Finally saw KOTCS last night. While I don't think it was a horrible movie it definantly didn't have that real "Indy" feel to it imo and of course the aliens. I mean c'mon Goerge, you can do better than that, of course I suppose it could have been worse. Instead of aliens they could have used Ewoks. Still it wasn't too bad and it had it's moments.

Indy for me, but only just. Bond is excellent, but there have been a few stinkers.

2008 saw the releases of new installments in both series. I'm gonna have to say Bond gets the better flick, and I'm sure most of us here would agree with that.
