Plus my daughter was obsessed with the cast , especially Wolfhard.

So it was a nice theater bonding film for us.

He didn’t really get away with it - it was controversial. He fielded pedo accusations. But I think eventually everyone realized it’s just a terribly “writery” way for a burnt cokehead/drunk author to articulate the characters’ unification & tie it into their budding sexuality.

Which is to say it’s awful but not exactly actionable.
So gross.
And I don’t say that snarkily because this is one of my favorite books.
