As far as a different actor to play indy in any future films, no way. Harrison Ford or nothing. Just think back to how scared we all were when Shia
Nearly wore indy's fedora at the end of kotcs. Yikes:horror

Bad idea. Best to either make one more good one with Ford or let it go.

Just saw this thread...

1) Raiders of the Lost Ark, of course this the best one in the franchise, who doesn't love huge run away boulders and watching Nazi's faces melt.
2) The Last Crusade, lots of humor and the great Sean Connery, this movie felt very much like Raiders of the Lost Ark, lots of fun
3) Temple of Doom, ugh what can I say, I hated the blonde and the little kid, both of them were very annoying, pretty much ruined the movie for me.
4) Crystal Skull, one word LaBeouf, I hate this guy with a passion... Plus Lucas was still nose diving after his horrible SW prequels, what was Spielberg thinking in letting Lucas write this.

Hearing about Harrison's recent ankle injury makes me worry if it might affect his ability to do Indy 5, given the recovery time he was given for his ankle. If he takes a while to recover from it before he resumes Episode VII, could it delay Indy 5 indefinitely depending on when production is supposed to begin?

Well since Indy 5 isn't even close to happening, I don't think his ankle injury will delay anything.

Raiders since Ford was already early 30s there...

Hehe. Actually he was just about to hit 40 when he made the first one. Ford is 71 years old.

I think he's too old to do another movie in the same style as the first three. Or rather too old to capture our hearts and minds in the same way - it just wouldn't be natural nor believable. Another like Crystal Skull is a maybe - and honestly, I didn't mind that. It was a lot better than most "big" movies coming out of Hollywood in the past 20 years. Bring on Shia for one more as Ford's side kick. I'm down for that.

1) Last Crusade. Gotta love Connery and the everlasting fight against the nazis. Even ends up in the heart of the third reich.
2) Raiders. Starts with a bang and just keeps rolling!
2.5) Fate of Atlantis :whip Should have made this a real movie instead of Crystal Skull.
3) Temple of Doom. I like this quite good. A more darker indy film.
4) Crystal Skull. Getting aliens in the indy adventure was the right twist and choice, but thats about it.

1. Temple of doom : real mature and dark theme brings up real adventure taste. sure, shorty is not warranted, but its a good character addition. better than lebouf.
2. Last crusade : Theres Sean connery, great opening, and Heil Hitler!!! Cant seem to forget that signature moments :yess:
3. raiders of the lost ark : good until the very last scene when the ark opens. what the #### was all those ghostly images about?
4. crystal skull : too out of the world story, and there's lebouf there. only moment that i remember was in the end when he tried to take indy's hat, ford snatches it back from him with "dont even think about it" look :hi5:

I think the word reboot is being misused too often. Wouldn't they just recast Indy? A reboot means they throw out the old continuity and set the new stuff in a new ficitional universe set apart from what came before. Let's say they recast Indy and set these films before, between, and after the movies we already have. Are they going to pretend Shorty, Willie, Marion, and Elsa aren't characters? Did Indy never find the Ark, the Sankara Stones, the Grail, or the Crystal Skull? If not, then it's a reboot. But otherwise it's just a recast.

I'm opposed to both to be honest but I guess a recast would be better than a reboot.

lol, so true
well, i think neither a recast nor a reboot would satisfy our thirst for good indy movie.
actually there hasnt been a lot of adventure movie out there lately. maybe we all yearns for good adventure movie, not necessarily indy?
there's nick cage with national treasure series, but the character is not as iconic and lovable as ford in indy.
tintin did come close to indy-like adventure though, IMO (even though it lacked realism, lol, but it still is a fun and enjoyable movie)
furthermore, the character is still young so they might be able to produce more tintin adventures.

I think the hate for KOTCS would be nothing compared to what a reboot would get. No way people would be accepting of it.

Crystal Skull does not exist in this dojo!

A reboot would be fine and people would accept it,
whether it be Casino Royale, Batman Begins or even The Amazing Spiderman (which got reboot immediately after no.3 of the previous version), people are happy to plonk down cash a the cinema.

They tend to reboot everything and make the character younger though so you wouldn't even really need to reboot Jones.
Just have the movies set between the end of Young Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom. That is a 15 year period and they could easily release 3-4 films in a 10+yr release cycle.

Unfortunately, Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones and Indiana Jones is Harrison Ford. Very much unlike the other examples, where the character has always transcended the actor(s) playing them.
