It's always funny when people are like "I sold my Palps years ago for $400!" - I mean the HT Emperor likely isn't coming out until March of next year, so in the end you'll have been without a decent Palps (and yeah, though I've never seen it in-hand, the SSC Palps was pretty decent - the reason the price went way-up) for many years by choice.:dunno

It's great to get a crazy price for a fig (I sold my SSC Greedo for an insane price, only because I made a custom fig that looked much more like ANH Greedo to me) but I never understand the desire to sell things that you actually really want in your display, have that "hole" in your fig display for many years, only to buy a better version for much more all those years later (HT Palps is shipping almost a decade after SSC Palps.)

It's like really wanting a farmboy Luke for years, but waiting for the ultra-real mega HT version that comes out in 2037... just in time for your funeral.:lol

People who managed to sell SSC Palps for $$$ in the last six months - now they're the smart ones however.:lecture

The point was to redirect all this and still be polite.
Photoshop cheeks?- of course not.
Yes, 400 bucks is drop on the bucket nowadays but we can finally lay the SS version to its resting home:)

Thank you for your support.

The In't Branch (including the large US Contingency) meets in Brussels next January. Join me there Wor-Gar. :lol

Yeah I doubt it....

Would be nice though.....I will probably rewire it to attach directly to the low voltage LED setup I have.

Will take some testing to be sure it’s not gonna melt something.

Damn.......

Yes you mentioned it. Now did you invest that 400.00 in a good portfolio and can now use the interest to pay for new Palps?

Nah blew the 400 in one night on strippers dressed as Royal guards. It got weird/crazy when they saw my pantless Palps though.
Don’t ask don’t tell.

Sideshow got to them.

This is Steven Allen. I am one of the owners of Timewalker Toys & Collectibles. I don't spend a lot of time on the forums. As a business owner I simply don't have the time. However, I have asked various customers and employees to keep an eye on things for me so that I can stay informed of the latest in 1/6th (retailers don't always get all the information they need from their distributors) and be informed when the occasional forum participant speculates on a subject for which he or she has no facts.

As a retailer, we have been a wholesale customer of Sideshow Collectibles for over 15 years. We have the highest regard and respect for Sideshow. Sideshow is highly reliable cornerstone in this industry for both retailers and end consumers alike. Like any solid, reliable, and successful business, Sideshow has a set of rules that retailers must follow. Timewalker Toys & Collectibles has never, not once, violated the terms of our contract with Sideshow. We have always operated well within the parameters of our agreement with Sideshow as we have with all of the vendors with whom we have a working relationship.

For those who prefer facts over speculation, here are the facts regarding our recent listing of the Royal Guard and Emperor Palpatine. First the Royal Guard ~ we thought it strange that Hot Toys did not release this item as a twin pack (or at least provide this option), since most Star Wars fans who reflect on the films think of the Royal Guard as coming in sets of two. We thought it might be a natural inclination for Hot Toys buyers to want to pick up two, so we created our own grouping of two Royal Guards. All of you know this a very expensive hobby. So we though it would be nice to offer a mild discount on a set of two, if someone was willing to shell out the money to have two, instead of settling for one. Our discounted preorder price was well within Sideshow's MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) policy. If you come to our website now, you will find that our special Grouping of Two Royal Guards is no longer available. Why? It is because Sideshow "got to" us? No. It is because our intuition about the end consumer's desire to buy this item in a set of Two was too successful. What many of you do not know is that retailers are capped on the number of pieces that can be purchased for inventory on Hot Toys products. Overnight, our Grouping of Two Royal Guards has pushed us right up the edge of what we will be allowed to purchase for inventory, hence the reason for turning the product record for the Grouping of Two off, and removing our standard preorder discount for the single purchase Royal Guard product record.

So what about the Emperor? Why did we adjust our preorder pricing on these two offerings? Because, like the Royal Guard, sales on the Emperor, for us at least, was over-heating. Many of you who picked up your Royal Guard(s) from us in the last 24 hours also picked up Emperor Palpatine in one form or the other, which means it is very likely that our preorder allocation will sell out long before the preorder period ends. From a retailer's perspective this is, contrary to what you might think, unsettling, since this item doesn't come out until the 1st Quarter of 2019. It means we are unlikely to have stock for the store. We thought it was clear the Emperor didn't need the extra help, so we made a mild adjustment to our preorder price. Once again, it was a pragmatic move by Timewalker, and it was not because Sideshow "got to" us.

So, congratulations to those who got their preorders in early. We appreciate your support!

It was a joke, Steven.

I understand the need to remain loyal to Sideshow and dismiss any shoddy suggestions, and I'm certain you work within the parameters of your agreement with them. You have to.

I don't really understand the idea that you want to hold onto some stock as opposed to selling out -- which seems like every retailers dream -- just to have some leftover for the store.

But hey, sorry I brought you all the way down here on account of a bad joke.

Thanks for the facts.:clap

Can retailers send word to Sideshow (or directly to Hot Toys) requesting a guards two pack? It's still easily early enough for them to arrange it. Or does that have no more weight than an average collector requesting it? It just seems absolutely obvious to do a two-pack, or at least a "bundle" of two as you did, for the guards.

It's likely HT has underestimated the demand for the guards, so wanted to play it safe with just the single pack.

But hey, sorry I brought you all the way down here on account of a bad joke.

They have a physical store and sell to local customers who don't buy directly off the website.

I get it -- so don't put all your stock on the website. Keep some aside for the store. He used that as a reasoning and I just didn't see the rationale.

Clearly the "got to them" comment really got Steven steamed. Not sure why he took it so seriously; if he followed the entire conversation from earlier he would see where we were saying it was a great thing selling the two-pack. The speculation was all about why don't other retailers do things like that; and hopes that more might. In fact, I was promoting his store for doing it. Then I get singled out for a bad joke. Sheesh.

Hot toys got a little paranoid with Praetorian guards vs the OT Royal guard. Man, they may both be red and have the same job but one will always be the clear winner.

You should be ashamed. Lol how dare you seek knowledge. Lol

The sarcasm on the forum has been THICK since TLJ premiered.

I would love to see the preorder numbers on the TLJ Guards versus the Royal Guards. Just out of curiosity.

Based on Steven's near sell-out, sounds like there's no competition.

It's great he came on and explained how things work. Explains why BBTS always sells out so fast if they are limited to a set amount. I can kinda understand why he set the record straight. Random coments online in this day and age are more and more being taken as fact. We knew (and he probably also knew) that it was a joke but you know some would not and would start repeating that SS stopped him for some reason.

Royal guards always get crap for not doing anything = selling like hot cakes

Praetorian guards actually do some work & put up a decent fight against two saber wielders = made fun of and not selling well

OT always wins.

Yes, and I regret that is what compelled him to have to come here to set the record straight. But you're right, there are those people.

OT always wins.

OT always wins. OT is so full of win... it will make you tired of winning. OT gives you tiger blood.
