Haha. Yeah that's what I figured. Man, I'm such a newb at this. Their making me second guess myself with those SS shots.

HT all the way, every time. No offense to anyone getting the SS version, but the sculpt can't compete with HT.

Sideshow always gets you with the promo shots then usually delivers something subpar. There have been a few recent exceptions, Darth Maul, Luke Snowspeeder, but the fact remains that sideshow always has less quality in bodies, sculpt, and paint.

Plus it’s Jedi Luke and I have to have the best even if it costs me more to get both versions I still choose Hot Toys.

I cannot decide whether to spring for the HT version or the SS version on this. I know the differences between them, but SS has the Endor accessories, while I think HT has the better head sculpt.

What is the majority opinion here?

Had a few SS over the years and while I do think they can occasionally do very well, their big weakness IMO is their paint apps. SS sculpts can be very good, but the paint always hold them back while HT almost always knocks it out of the park in that department and adds to the "realistic" look their sculpts have.

Don't beat yourself up Aggienader; both options have something attractive to offer. Personally the best choice would be if HT included the Endor accessories. I'll bet Sideshow wouldn't have stepped up to the plate if they had. Sideshow's "ace in the hole" however was Endor loot, free shipping and PayPal options to get people to change over their HT preorders. Some shifty business but all's fair in love, war and dolly sales.

Is it just me or does that SSC RotJ luke look a lot like the snowspeeder luke figure they did? Kinda looks like they recycled it. The clothing quality doesn't look anywhere as good as HT version.

The SS Jedi Luke is awful. Clothes, stitching, and the sculpt doesn't look Mark Hamill at all. Can't be compared to HT. The extras doesn't make it up for its downside. The extras can be bought from online sellers or third party bashers.

Because you aren't allowed to sell "pre-orders" on eBay anymore. By keeping the listing under a month or two, they can get around it. It's people trying to get around the rules.

I agree, hot toys is going to offer the better figure. Sideshow wins on clothing, especially boots, and maybe accessories, but let's be honest, it's about the headsculpt and paint apps, hot toys is batting nearly 1,000. If this was an alien, like kit fisto, then sideshow, but a human sculpt, then hot toys.

The paint apps on the head are going to be sub-par on the SSC figure. Solely based on what SSC has delivered again and again (Hoth Luke, Hoth Han, Red Five Luke etc.) - even up to Dengar that shipped in the past two weeks, which is "fine" but the production fig's paint app is a noticeable step down on the proto.

I also have Jedi Luke on PO but when RO figures we’re releasing I purchased 2 Death Trooper Specialists, then when finishing a sculpted Stormtrooper doll they previewed the Specialist Deluxe with dolly! I was kinda pissed.

How about DX Father/Son pk: Luke with alternate sculpts and exclusive Anakin reveal helmet sculpt which unfortunately won’t come with the regular ROTJ Vader (which was also released prior to this) hehe. HT foils us AGAIN.

That would be great; I'm sure there's some I can't think of but they really ran through the latter half of 2018's big releases for me.
