Hmm, strange... Is it because there is only one prototype of the figure? I know there is one at the “Marvel Age of Heroes Exhibition” at Roppongi Hills Mori Tower in Tokyo.

They may have just not yet received the proto yet, it's possible. The photo is just place holder until it arrives. That's just my assumption.

I'm torn on this one. I usually only collect heroines and guys in armor, but I love Chris Pratt and this is better than the first version.

Broke down and preordered. This set has a ton going for it, and with possible future versions, a simple head update to a sculpt with more character kind of future-proofs it.

As good as this one looks, Im still sticking with the vol1 version. Just something about the tattered long coat just screams "Star Lord" to me. I'll get the activating helmet parted out and thats about all I want from this set.

Same here! The deluxe has the both the long and short coat.

The version 2 headsculpt looks sooo much better lol

The version 1 just looks off.

Well, if we're going to be fair we should be comparing prototype with prototype. A lot of details were lost in the softer paint app of the final product. Even so, I agree, the head sculpt is off. Namely around the eyes. They sink too far into his brow, giving them an incredibly heavy look.

I personally also like the more neutral expression on this one. And I agree the likeness looks much better also. Overall I think we get a great package with the deluxe. The first Star-Lord looks really nice too but I never had a chance at it for retail. So I'm glad we're getting another one with some improvements.
