Got myself on the waitlist for this last Friday. Really hope it converts!
Dang this is on waitlist now too? It seems like a lot more stuff is going that way now than before. It used to be pretty much safe to not order an exclusive figure before release now a bunch seem to be going (old Han, Deadpool, Affleck Batman, this).
I know pretty crazy, figures like this are kinda odd in that they don't seem popular but sell out fast, but theres probably an obvious link there
Also something to be said for the large number of new collectors. Over the last two years I've noticed allot more people collecting locally -- I think theres a whole generation of Marvel fans who grew up on the movies and are just now starting to make enough money to get into this hobby.
or fans that already had money, and got into higher end collectibles.
For example, myself I was solely into 6" figures, and then I got hooked on Hot Toys after they released the TDK Batman Begins Suit figure.
Delay email: Jan-Feb 2017 now
It's really stunning how the delays have been piling up with HT lately. Not that I'm complaining because I'd rather everything is done properly and not rushed, but geez, they have become delay central.
On the plus side, at least it hasn't been pushed back like Hulkbuster has! I was tempted to get this figure, but since he's sold out I guess it's a moot point now.

Spoiler:
Misconception. It's not a hot toys delay. Almost all those figures that are said to be delayed actually come out well within HOT TOYS expected release window. These sideshow emails have nothing to do with production. They sent out emails for figuresxalready actually released. Sideshow estimates are always early. Look at the DC WMmk1...it got a delayed email last month or the month before despite it being released and not past hot toys intial announced window. Or the mk3 wM which has gotten the email, despite it not being past sideshows announced 3 month window (after the first month of the 3 month window that sideshow gives nearly every figure they send out an email saying it's "delayed" even though it is actually just an update/revised scheduled and may not even extend past the 3 month window. As in say oct-dec is the window and in September they send out an email saying it's delayed to nov-dec...clearly not delayed but happen with three figures this year and happens with almost every figure since they don't usually release through sideshow before hot toys elannounced them to release in Hong Kong...even though nearly every sideshow schedule coincides with or is even before hot toys announced release window.)
Anyway, that's not a production delay. It's not even a delay. Until the hot toys announced window is passed anything sideshow says has nothing to do with with production or delays really. Look at the DC mk3 wM again. It's gotten two or three "delayed" emails and yet hot toys said when it announced the figure that it could take till Dec 31, 2016 before they expect it to release in Hong Kong. So if the people making it say it probably won't be out till around The end of December when sideshow sends out an email in September or October it clearly has nothing to do with a delay or even hot toys and everything to do with sideshow and how they do their announced releases.
It seems like a lot has gotten delayed because every figure, unless it comes out early, will get at least one of those emails as they narrow the anticipated arrival window. If they say a figure will arrive oct-dec and then at the end of September send out an update it says something like we original expected this to arrive in October but now except it to arrive in nov-dec or dec-Jan or something like that it's not a delay, even though they use that word. There are legal reasons having to do with mail order, fraud ect on pre orders that they have to update and use certain terms. But again, it's not an actual delay 99/100 times.
I doubt it's a matter of getting it right and more a matter of getting more Star Wars figures out the door.
