I like the new sculpt on this. It still probably isn't anything I'd buy most likely or if I ever did it'd have to be discounted but the new head sculpt looks better to me than the more cartoony/anime looking sculpt.

But isn't this figure a woman wearing a dead aliens outer skeleton as armor? Or is it a human alien hybrid?

nope. this release got xeno parts/limbs. more like a xeno with a face and bewbs. human-alien hybrid...test tube ripley in resurrection? :gah
i would have preferred wearing xeno as a armor route, like that predalien helmet art...she still got human hands.

this would have made sense. wearing a predalien's head for helmet. i can work with that.

the figure getting released doesnt make any sense, a xeno with a human face and bewbs...what gives? it would have been better if they spent that R&D to make Kerrigan.

if this is one way of testing their NEW IMPROVED RUBBER shat, maybe i'd pass a blind eye. if that thing has the same rotten rubber shat...**** you hot toys.

It is armor. She's not a hybrid mutant of any sorts...it's just a complete fantasy piece that's going a bit more Xeno in terms of armor. I agree that adding a pair of swap out human hands would've been a great addition, but these aren't actual Xeno hands...it's just more of the armor. She's even wearing boots. It's not like she's got weird Xeno feet and is ready to pounce.

The helmet is clearly designed as just that, a helmet, as there's no upper mouth, nor is there any type of secondary mouth. She's just a companion piece to go with Machiko, who is geared out in Predator armor...just a lot more sensualized, as it's not like this armor would be functional in any way. I love the silver hair they gave her, and how it's supposed to look like teeth.

If they don't price her crazy, I may jump in on her just because I actually like the concept. Some of these shots look really cool/badass. Oh, and I really like the addition of the Space Jockey gun as a weapon!

I'm not a fan of the anime face whatsoever, but I'm sure it'll be big over in Asia, which is all good if they like it. I just don't think it works stylistically, but that's just me. I do think that the guy who commented on Facebook about the anime face being an under-aged girl was pretty off base. I know that's a fairly common thing in Asia in terms of young women designs, such as Bishoujo pieces; but even though I'm not a fan of the face, I don't think she looks like an underage kid. More like an early 20s cosplayer. It's also funny that they're disgusted with Hot Toys and ashamed to be buying from the company right now; however, will clearly continue to support them.

It's not worth posting a response to them and getting into anything on the Internet, as those debates always lead down a good path. But if you're going to go all high and mighty, then you don't continue to support the company. "I think what you're doing is disgusting and vile. Anyway, here's my money, where's my Batman?" :rolleyes2

hmm. i count 5 digits.
not your usual xeno hand/finger set...
but not your usual gloved hand either...

machiko used the alien head as a shield while this one used as a helmet. sure, why not.

but is that xeno tail part of the armor? highly doubt it. machiko re-tooled it to a spear.
this one has to be functional.

Some of the concept art shows that the helmet used to have a dome over the opening, kind of like a space suit. I was actually still expecting that to be a part of this, but I guess it got cut along the way. Probably better it did for display purposes. I also thought she was going to come with an unmasked sculpt, but I'm INCREDIBLY happy that they went with the more human look as an alternate display. I mean, even if I don't end up getting it, I think that's a huge plus to the figure.

When I say companion piece to Machiko, I don't fully mean that they're fighting side by side in this world. I think the AvP logo is just because that's the easiest place to throw this into that's recognizable with the license. You're not going to stick her with the official Alien logo...we think fans are flipping out now, imagine if they did that! :lol AvP is the safe bet for a more expanded universe, and I meant it more as though the two are both "sexy warriors" in their own realms.

I don't believe that this is an actual Xeno skull that she's using for a helmet...I believe the outfit is designed. Clearly they expect the Xenos to attack her from behind, which is why most of the armor went there. That's the only reason! :lol She's got a massive Space Jockey-esque gun, and is quite futuristic looking, so I'd bet that the tail is functional as part of the suit...not an actual living piece of her body. I'd say the same thing about hte gloves. They were likely designed to just give her more of a Xeno look overall, over just having human hands. But again, I agree that the swap out option would've been ideal to have!

I think the lack of lore hurts this character as well from a selling point. She's a completely unique design from an artists interpretation. Machiko has books about her, with plenty of character development. With this one just being "Alien Girl," it really does take away from her having some sort of personality. I think giving her an actual name would've been somewhat beneficial, but maybe I'm being silly.

like what i mentioned earlier, they could have placed all this effort to kerrigan, the zerg queen.

or maybe they were inspired by this in hindsight

a biomech armor of some sort...if that was the case leave the bewbs and the curves, but cover the skin...if its supposed to be an armor.lolz

that's why i'm leaning this figure being a hybrid, not an armor. if that makes sense.

I get what you're trying to say, but I'm pretty sure this is a concept they've had bouncing around for years now, before that concept art appeared a year or two ago. As for covering all her skin...well, having her be a "sexy warrior" is the point of it all. If her entire body was Xeno outside of her face popping out, well, that would sell even slower than this one (though I feel this will still sell fairly well depending on the market and price.)

I use the term armor lightly. Have you ever played Warcraft or most fantasy games that involve a female in armor? They don't really leave much to the imagination, let alone worry about her ability to protect herself from actual attacks. It's all about imagining the character kicking ass and looking good while doing so. The latest Machiko PF is a perfect example of awesome looking armor that doesn't actually cover or protect any of her vital organs!

I also see the complaint a lot both here and on Facebook that they wasted resources on this. Hot Toys has plenty of people working for them, and they hired an artist long ago to create this design. When the image of Ripley posted above emerged and everyone loved it, Hot Toys brought this figure back to the forefront after a hiatus. They've still got plenty of other sculptors and artists working on other characters, and doing this one -- which will still make them money -- didn't cause them to not make a character they otherwise would have.

Hell, I've wanted a Ripley since her surprise appearance at SDCC a couple of years ago, and I'm sure she'll show up at some point. There's definitely a reason she hasn't been released, as it's not like Hot Toys just decided against making the boatloads of money that she'll bring in. So when she comes out, I'll eagerly PO her without question. Until then, I just enjoy seeing what Hot Toys comes up with, whether it interests me or not.

Hopefully this is also a test for Hot Toys trying out some new joint and material mechanics with the approach of perhaps re-doing the actual Xenomorph figures.

Those figures were fantastic back in the day and I had them all. Unfortunately, age has caught up and a lot of the posts I see now comment on the breakdown of the rubber, the paint decay, the joints loosening, etc. I was sad when I sold them long ago but I'm glad I did considering they would've been breaking down further. And I took GREAT care of my stuff.

They've been re-doing their AVP Predators and the standard Predator figures (figures that basically put them on the map) so it seems only natural that the "next" step would be the actual Xenomorphs.

I always hate it when I'm trying to watch ALIEN and look at porn at the same time and I have to keep moving my head from side to side to look at each screen. Thankfully this figure will finally take care of that.

I always hate when people say something is a waste of a release, as there is always someone else interested in it.

This is a waste of a release.

this is extremely offensive and sexist

hot toys should be forced to release a public apology, i hope no one buys this!

I'm so glad we didn't get an Alien Ripley and an Aliens Ripley w/ powerloader so they could release this
I know I speak for other fans of the franchise when I say this character was the best in the franchise
Maybe they will do male ones then we won't need any colonial marine 2.0 releases
