Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

Just wish I could add a poll, but at this point, I've waited too long and can no longer even do that...

I'm wavering between Yoda and R2... :panic:

Yoda

Or R2

Personally I think Yoda makes for the better tattoo because he can fit the curvature of your body better than a technical drawing like R2 but as you can see above, if the artist is good enough anything is possible.

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

That Yoda is very nice, but if I do go with Yoda, he will be a full figure and hopefully far closer to the original ESB/ROTJ incarnation.

I'm leaning about 60/40 toward R2 though, because he is in all of the films. And by all of the films, I mean all three original trilogy films. Just saying, if I pull this off, this will be my tribute to those films. Not so much the prequels.

And: On the hand!!! :horror

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

Alright, send a contact email for a possible appointment.

Let's see what happens...

Off to bed with me. :rip

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

Feel a bit weird as I've gone back and forth throughout the day, leaning mostly toward Yoda. But the thought of a botched likeness is really keeping me going back to R2 over and over.

So now it's like 75/25 Artoo. :D

Still, it would be a game time decision and depends on what I see in the artists' portfolios.

No response from my chosen fellow as of yet. :(

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

How did u not consider Vader?

Noooooooooooooo!

:lol

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

I would donate if you got an Ewok tattoo. :D

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

Oh, a cute little Ewok? Nah! :lol

Vader. Nope.

I'm really digging the Yoda idea, but leaning heavily toward Artoo.

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

Stormy, don't half ass this... Start looking for a proper photo of either R2 or Yoda right now. Also, do you know an artist in the Orlando area that has open appointments?

I won't half ass it. It's my skin and I'll have to live with it forever! I was thinking of swinging by official pix and getting an image there. I don't have a ton of source material (aside from the internet), but I do have the Art of McQuarrie book, and we all know that's not a screen version. I know Waller would probably say McQuarrie R2 FTW, but I want the film version. I've been looking at tons of images of actual tats on the internet, and pulling the ones I like. That's what has swung me so hard away from Yoda. "Not good, the likenesses are."

Plus, I figure it's a Star Wars Celebration. These artists should have portfolios full of SW characters and work. If I don't see what I like, I'll move on to the next artist. Shame the one I really liked, is out and cannot attend. Then my second choice has not responded to my email. But I know it's late in the game. It is likely that all the best are booked up already, and if so, then it will sadly be a no go. Hell, I don't even know what a tat costs! So we'll see what happens.

Well, it depends on the artist and the size, complexity, etc. Roughly what size are you thinking? For example, I had a pretty simple design done on my left shoulder a couple months ago, it was about 5"x5" and cost me $200. I'd imagine you'd be looking at $300-350 for what you're looking for. It sounds as if you have a solid battle plan though. :clap I'm excited for you, dude!!

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

You gotta go CRUMB

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

A nicely sized Artoo on my upper left shoulder, or should I say deltoid? I figure prices may be jacked at the show, because it is a Star Wars convention after all, but was hoping for it to be under $500. Another question I have is: Do you tip your artist? I have absolutely no idea. Although my sister is all tatted up, and I've even sat with her during one of her sessions, I don't know the protocol, etc.

Yeah, I have a plan. I just feel like I might not be able to get what I want at the show. I want a photorealistic type of tat, but still want color, because I think it's important in this character study. We'll see what is in the portfolios. I really only have Thursday to Saturday to get something as Sunday is travel home day after noon. We'll see though, because I really want one, and I really want it to be at CVI too. It's become a priority and a first stop on the convention floor, maybe right after picking up prints from ACME. But they are preordered. Just want to get them out of the way.

I'm nervous, but excited. Can't stop saying, "We'll see." :panic:

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

They did! It was called CIV and LA is as close as you're going to get I think. So what did you get tattooed recently? Pics?

Re: Wanna get furystorm a tattoo at CVI? Pledge here!

Wish you were coming, Flosi, but maybe one day you'll make it out to Florida. Who knows how long it will be there, though? The contract was for two shows, so it could come out west again.
