Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Thanks guys!

Oh yeah..Kabe...

DSC00171.jpg

Kabe was one of my 1st customs that I did a few years back.I made her from one of the hasbro Jawa 2 pack figures.I removed the head & bandolier. The center detail of her robe is a piece of fabric(same type woven pattern used to make insolated longjohns:lol)that I coated with epoxy then pressed onto the molded robe.It was cut with a razor blade at the crack of the waist joint to maintain articulation & sclupted the sash with magic sculpt right above the slit. This worked out fine becuase it hid the crack of the joint.Magic sculpt was also used to create the hair on the hands & feet as well as the toe claws.
The vest is a modified Mego chips shirt & the head was sculpted by your's truely.

Later on,I plan to cast & add Kabe to my list of obtainable alien headsculpts.:wink1:

I don't think it was coincidence that hasbro paired the 2 together. If my geekdom serves me correctly,in the behind the scenes storyline & the EU,Muftak & Kabe were close buddies.....I'm guessing that they had a falling out a few years ago & so they packed Kabe with Nabrun Lieds:lol

She is fantastic, I love bats and she is so cute :D

And this is my 100th post :D

Perfect Duane, KABE IS A MUST HAVE! another home run as usual

The story featuring them- in Tales from the cantina was so well written- Kabe as a young female jurri-juice addicted pickpocket, who is habitually thieving from patrons in the cantina, and Muftak, her lone protector and sole species from his world. They break into Jabba's Mos Eisley place and you really get a sense of the dynamic between the two, Muftak as paternal adoptive father, Kabe as errant child, great story, if you've not read it, you gotta.

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Thanks to eBay, I was able to pick up Duane's Nabrun, Klaatu, and M'iiyoom - they are stunning!!! PLEASE let us know when you have Kabe ready to sell, I always loved this little critter, she's so cute! :)

BTW, while I am a verteran collector, I'm fairly green at customizing. It's my hope that with time and practice, I'll be able to paint my own head-sculpts and do them justice, but these are too nice, I'd be afraid to mess them up - anyone have recommendations on a painter-for-hire on the boards who could bring these babies to life?

Also, HUGE thanks on the recipes for the costumes for Nabrun and M'iiyoom, they looks awesome and I intend to try them out! :clap Any hints/suggestions on the outfit for Klaatu?

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Welcome to the boards my friend.... Yes Enaud are fantastic and great fun to paint up. If you ask folks will gladly give you ips on painting, There are so great painters on the boards.
Klaatu is a wee bit more tricky to kit bash but I will see if I can find my recipe :)

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Just brought one of your Klaatu sculpts off Ebay and can't wait to get it. Good work mate and love your sculpts keep up the good work.

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Right... onwards with Nabrum.... last time we left him his new shinny 4 armed suit was in the oven at gas mark one... I am happy to say itz out now :)...

the hands... Duane did so most chuffin marvellous three fingered ones which are great... now to attach them I am going to use some thin drinking straws as styrene tubes are so expensive. So I am drilling the hands and the arms... I use a pair of pliers to grip the arm and stop it from possibly spitting.
There will be no real articulation in the hands just rotations... but its ok for him... On one of the Space Marines I dremeled out the wrist, cut down a hand and glued the stump in... which is great as it gives full movement.

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Like Bunk said 'Shheeeee-it'.

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Ah yes,gloves...Chaka & I had a little discussion regarding this not too long ago_Ok so here's my side of the story...

When I was researching pics when I first decided to do Nabrun,hands/gloves were in consiteration.I could not find a single pic that I could see a clear shot of how many digits this guy had.For SOME guidence,I will resort to see what hasbro has to say about some details.Their figure of nabrun has 1 thumb & 3 fingers.Good ole Wookiepedia had this to say about this fellows species....

...While all Morseerians had opposing thumbs, individuals had varying numbers of digits on their hands:some had five per hand, others had four, while still others made do with three.

With that,I was not worried about hands & continued with my sculpting. It just so happens that I came across the very pic Wor-Gor posted a week or 2 after he was finished(which was a bummer because that is a good pic I could have went by for head details)After reading wookiepedia,I was set on using some gloved hands on my personal figure. The hands Dorg used are some pre existing hands I had cast up with the intention of using them for some aliens(obviously). When my care package was sent to Snow Corp, several of these hands were part of the lot.Dorg creatively chose to use them for Nabrun & they look fantastic on him.

So with the mask pic, hasbro figure,Wookiepedia,& several EU pics of him on the web...depending on what refference one ultimately chooses to go by....it's one of those "in the eye of the beholder" situations

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Now look at that -- that's more then I ever knew about Nabrun.

Thank you for the information, Duane, that's very helpful.

And awesome job on the hands, Mark! :clap

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Shoot...so, does anyone have any Nabrun hands for sale? I'm not a sculptor, don't have a talent for it, so I need an assist here. Duanne, I bought your Nabrun head and I CANNOT say enough good things about it (!!!):clap - do you have a set of hands for sale? I suppose it doessn't matter on the number of fingers, since a certain amount of "creative license" is necessary to bash the suit; the "greedo jumpsuit" recipe is pretty close (close enough for my tastes!:)), but there are subleties to Nubrun's outift that can't be captured unless you sew the thing from scratch, so with regard to the hands, what's a finger or two here and there?:wink1:

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Oh, on the topic of "creative license" and outfits, I'm following Dorg's recipe for M'iiyoom in gathering outfit components because I love the way the figure looks, but I'm torn on a few choices. Due to the low lighting of the cantina, screen shots don't give a clear indication of the clothing colors, short of white pants and white cuffs, so far as I can tell. Dorg went with an orange jacket and green tunic, which seems to be inspired by a painting of M'iiyoom I was able to Google. The Hasbro figure went with a dark green jacket and grey tunic, and since Hasbro has access to Lucas archival photos, I'm guessing this look may be more "screen accurate"? Any thoughts out there??:dunno
