LotR or Indy?

Yes. With the Hobbit movies being prequels, the Trilogy ceases to be.

Same characters, takes place before LOTR, they are prequels.

Dont really have an opinion about these two films, I do think someone has went a little overboard with the modding however. I had no idea this forum was serious on a level with an astrophysics forum, I guess we all know better now. Sheesh.

Serious flamewars, yeah mod those - but people having fun, I don't see a problem.

he is talking about the hobbit movies right?

I assumed so.

It sort of is but it mostly isn't. The Hobbit is its own separate story with a few characters and events that play into what we will see in Lord of the Rings.

You could say that as Star Wars.

Semiotics aside, after december, it's not a trilogy. The story movies into LOTR.

Not a bad thing...it's just what happens.

The Hobbit simply compliments the LOTR (in the films case), it doesn't nullify it as a trilogy.

While it does bridge it, it doesn't necessarily cancel out LOTR as a trilogy,

How many "fun" polls do we need?

Here's one:

And here's another:

The people have spoken - and most of them are tired of all the polls. A couple is fine...but this is just silly now...and not in a "fun" way.

If that's what you want to tell yourself. This particular topic is kind of my thing (Middle-earth) so I put a bit more stock in that I know what I'm talking about.:peace

The LOTR is and always will be a trilogy. Even the Tolkien Library - lists it as a trilogy.

The Hobbit - even though it will be broken into 3 films, does not make a trilogy, imo, as it is based off of one book and some appendixes.

Pretty much. Especially in the bookverse. Now, movie wise The Hobbit will be its own trilogy and a few events/characters tie the stories together. It's not a prequel in the sense of SW.
