no probs :1-1: The hulk commiquette couldn't fit as the arms made it too wide. Optimus prime.. Base to big :( I hope hulk fits. I just hate the thought of dust :lol

In the Marvel Statues thread here there is a display thread where someone uses the PAX system from Ikea ( normally a wardrobe ) to display his collectables.

It fits the Optimus Prime and the Hulk Commiquette etc etc and I am putting some cash away to eventually go that route as well.

A little more in the initial outlay but cheaper long term as it holds more.

I'll copy and paste this message here that Platty sent me about bestas. I don't think he'll mind. A good bit of info here. :lecture

Basically you buy a bog standard besta bookcase (single or double):

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40102129/?query=401.021.29

Then you can Choose what doors, feet, handles and there is also a mirror back / glass shelf insert you can buy for quite cheap.

(The feet and handles aren't absolutely necessary mate they come with it. Really you only need the bookcase and 3 doors.)

Also there is a few lighting options, these look great and were made especially for besta, and you can see them in the video:

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50165404/

Here is the glass shelf / mirror back insert you can use in bestas:

My doors:

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40103553/

Voorhess doors (I think)

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70178580/

Another set of doors but not great if you want to see what's in there:

A better view:

So when I was finished I had this:

Here is a good video showing exactly what I have (minus the lights) The aluminium doors look great imo.

I've bought 2 of the cabinets found at the last ikea link.

Great guide, thanks for the info and your collection is great. Subscribed to your channel ages ago :clap

Yeah I heard the doors are what kills ya. The tombo are what everyone keeps telling me. Is that what you got my man?

I do indeed :). I had thought about the ones with a wooden like frame, but it would cut off some of the viewing space.

Thanks man, I seen that. The only issue is space and getting doors for it.

The Doors come with it, he just does not put the glass in that comes with it but gets plexi cut to fit.

All comes down to what your collecting but if its bigger statues I would go this way, certainly with Hulk, Skaar, Colossus and now the Joker the Besta just does not have the height to fit these in very well.

I need the extra depth and they are only an extra 30cm wider if you get the smaller size so I wish I had gone this way before pouring money into a besta but hey, live and learn :1-1:

do you guys secure the besta to the wall?

I have a 3x high by 2x wide besta shelf with legs on carpet

I want to secure it to the wall (drywall) and was wondering what the best method would be

I did to be safe, and used those self expanding wall mounts that go into the wall and spring out, along with grommets inside the unit to keep the hole from showing. My units are flush against the wall though, so no light issues really. Can't wait to see the huge holes I'm going to have to repair when I go to remove these Bestas and try to sell the house one day!

Funny thing is that I was just building some pax today! For clothes though :( :lol. They would make a great display case. I'd have no idea where to get the stuff for the doors though.

Can anybody put up the measurements for the thickness of the sides, top, bottom, and shelves for a Besta. I am considering building a custom to save a little cash... :)

Guys, reading this great thread and the valuable information you have provided FINALLY I have decided to buy 5 of the 23"W and 75"H Besta's tomorrow and I will be screwing them to each other to make them look like a one unit.

My real problem right now is the lighting cord, I have decided to take the strip LED lights but how can I hide the cord??

The only idea I have in mind is that I will run all the cords for each strip from the back corner to the bottom and I will make a hole in the base of each Besta and pass the wires thru and then I will plug them all to an extinsion, is it a good idea? Is there an enough space to pass the cords from behind the shelfs?
I will have ~20 LED strips on all the units, can I use one controler to switch all of them together?

Appreciate your help.

One best thing about Besta is that it has the Inreda addon https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/50196542/ which makes the display case looks even more awsome

So tempted to get the Vassbo doors now .. just looks so much classier but what to do with the aluminum/glass doors then?!

I was considering to sell them but considering that they sell new for $30 not sure how much I can get back and then I played with the idea of getting more besta but then it won't match with doors being different :arghhh

Can anyone help I went to ikea today and bought a Besta book case and doors but I'm guessing there are variations of the book case as there were no holes to put the hinges into .

Their hinges do not rely on special cutouts but use the same holes as the ones uses for the shelves.
Better refer to the instructions

:borg

has anyone tried going to a glass shop to make custom doors for the bestas (hopefully cheaper)
