A stunning piece, but I'll wait to see what else Sideshow releases before I start buying pieces. I hope Sideshow eventually explores other wars. I'd love to see something from the Civil War in 1/4 scale or even the American Revolution. I love pre-1900 American history.

Not every German solider was a Nazi.

i agree most of the german army were just soldiers fighting a war. many didnt know about what was happening during the holocaust until after the war. now if they did a ss officer and called them a hero i would have a issue with. but im fairly sure the average german paratrooper didnt know what was happening in the concentration camps. i could be completely wrong though and if i am then the title hero should be removed.

As someone else said, I think that's a generic phrase that Sideshow will be using as filler for every release in this line.

As controversial as it would be to some people, I would love to see an SS officer in this scale, they had a very unique look which displays well, but of course we need some of the Allies to go with them...

How about a brave Tommy??? Or one of the badass US soldiers from Normandy???

alli know is anyone who has served or seen combat understands that putting on a parachute and jumping into the hellstorm that both sides in this war did is heroic.

was the german agenda heroic no, does that mean that no german soldier did anything heroic during the war of course not.

war was different back then soldiers didnt have acess to phones and email. a lot of soldiers were sent to the front and stayed there until the end of the war. im sure the average german soldier had no clus about what was happening anywhere else except for the front they were on. im by no means saying that all german soldiers were heroic or that none did horrible acts of violence. but im sure that there were ones that did do heroic things not for the german war machine but for there fellow soldiers.

i know when i was in cmbat we were not fighting for freedom or for the us we were fighting to keep each other alive. most soldiers will you tell you the same thing

i agree i would love as many different soldiers portrayed as possible. so i would like a ss officer portrayed but leave the word hero out of that title

The "vibe" I got from the backstage pass was that they would be doing a british and american paratrooper aswell.

It will go well with my Tigers and King Tigers. I know the size is going to be huge but it make for a cool display!

I want the others too! Bring it on Sideshow!
BTW, guys I will be at the show and will take ton of pics of this!

Now that my initial grumpiness over this statue has passed, I think that it would be really cool to see British and American soldiers. I won't buy any of them, but they'd still be really impressive.

Seeing this one gives me high hopes for Joe greenshirts. If they can do a paratrooper as well as this, I can only imagine how a medic, an infantry soldier, machine gun, mortar, bazooka, laser and communications specialists would turn out.

While I don't agree with you that ignorance of the camps equates with ignorance of the Nazi agenda for the Jews' fate, I do agree with your last three sentences.

yes, l pray SS gets into these types of PFs more. l used to collect 1/6 world war 2, but sold all them because l was not a fan of 1/6 anymore. if they could make U.S. paratroopers, marines and stuff like that in 1/4, l will be broke. :)

l would kill to see a 101st airborne paratrooper in full para gear in 1/4, on the eve of D-Day. l would pay big money for one of those.

Hey folks. Long-time lurker, infrequent poster. Here's the comment I submitted to Sideshow's July 17th pre-orders page. I didn't expect them to post it, and they didn't:

"Really? I’ve got no problem with toy companies making historically accurate products for serious military collectors, but Sideshow, who wrote the “Summary” on the German Paratrooper’s order page? “…celebrating the determination and spirit of the soldiers of the Second World War.” Can I wait for the Allied PF figures and celebrate THEIR determination instead? Maybe they should have been released first? “…the Battle of Crete: German Paratrooper Premium Format Figure is an outstanding addition to ANY display, a true tribute to the HEROES of World War II.”
Are the Nazis the heroes because they took the island of Crete? Who are the villains?
When I first saw the pictures of the figure, I thought it was cool that Sideshow was starting a series of WWII soldiers from both sides of the conflict. After reading the Summary, I wondered if anybody proofread it. “We want people to pay $335 for a 2 foot tall Nazi? Let’s celebrate his determination and spirit & call him a hero!” Whatever. It just kinda creeped me out."

I know the difference between the SS and regular enlisted, and maybe I should have said "German Paratrooper" instead of "Nazi" in the interest of historical accuracy, but the main point of my irritation remains the same. World War II ended only 65 years ago. I have relatives who fought (some died) for the US in this war who would turn over in their graves at that "heroic" description. If Sideshow's summary is the generic catch-all for all figures in this line of PF figures, then it is just in bad taste. It's also lazy writing.
I own action figures in various scales of German soldiers and officers. They're called "Bad Guys". G.I. Joe has Cobra, the Jedi have the Sith, and Uncle Sam & Indiana Jones have zee Germans. I get it. However, that summary, paired with the product itself; post-Allied killing, cigarette enjoying pose with victorious red spooky "Crete" font on the base just pissed me off. Will the Allied figures from this battle have that same base, just to rub it in? Out of all the
choices of figures and battles for Sideshow to jump into a WWII line with, why did they choose a victorious German? I'm not magnanimous enough to "celebrate" this, I guess. Rant over.

I like your angle in this. Good posting. I trust you read mine in this thread as well.

I don't. I just want to see more 1:6 Joes. But yes, 1:4 WWII has the potential to be an epic line. I'd be interested to see American Revolution PF's too.

I would really like to see some 15th and 16th century knights in armor either PFs or 12 inch figures. I really like the 15th century German bevor and sallet type. The Franklin Mint did a series of busts with armors of the world about ten years back. I'd like to see something similar done in PF or figure form. Samurai, (speaking of which, a Silver Samurai comiquette would be awesome) ancient Egyptian, Roman, Greek, and medieval armor would be great.

Thanks, Blackthornone. I read your first post right after sending my comment to Sideshow and thought "Well at least somebody sees my point of view." "For the Fatherland!" indeed.
