Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

The smiling sculpt is OK. The other one isn't that good. Looks like a $99 figure, at best.

SnakeDoc

:exactly: The sculpts look like a cartoon version of Carey as the Riddler..but then again I don't know what they were going for.

Do you remember what Carrey looked like in that film? He's actually pretty 'cartoonish' in everything he does.

This last one is a similar expression to the one they chose:

Also, I forgot he actually wore the jacket in the movie:

I think maybe they were going for this expression with the open-mouth head:

Didn't really pull it off though.

Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

Here's the third head that I guess wasn't included.

I think overall it's nice for what it is. The presentation looks good, he comes with important gear (though I would have loved the princess tiara:lol) and while they aren't perfect, you can tell it's Jim Carrey as the Riddler. But $380? C'mon. I wouldn't pay that for a Hot Toys figure and their figures KILL this thing.

Great effort (I think their Mask and Ace Ventura turned out extremely well) though.

After The Dark Knight Rises it's only a matter of time before Hot Toys tries to capitalize on more of Batman's classic film rogues as well as the different styles and interpretations of Batman himself. The fact that Hot Toys still goes back to older characters (Begins Batman, Demon, Scarecrow, '89 Batman, '89 Joker) gives me hope that they'll eventually delve into it even further. I can live without a 1/6 Riddler for a few years though.

I dunno, maybe if you stopped being so defensive for a second and actually look at the pics you posted, you'd see the headsculpt looks more like an animated version of Carey's Riddler than a realistic Jim Carey as Riddler. :huh

Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

That was a smart jacket, the "it keeps me safe while jogging at night".

Holy ____, imagine if a company pulled that off in 1/6 scale, lights and all.

Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

Head looks goofy (in a "not good" way).

But there's a difference between looking cartoonish and actually looking like an animated character that was ripped from a Saturday-morning TV show. I'd say this is the latter.

And now, I want a HT BTAS figure, as stupid as that would be. I also want to watch Batman Forever, so thanks for that.

Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

So Asmus is now offering the option to buy it with just 1 head, for $265 or something. At least they're listening

Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

i got a pm saying it was $265 + $35 shipping. so $300 minus one head. that actually makes it WORSE in terms of value!! minus the one head, it should be around $250 shipped max. even then most people won't bite.

Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

Well personally i'm not interested but I would argue it's still better value because if you tried to offload the second head, you wouldn't get much for it at all i'd wager. :lol

Shipping should be free and then maybe they have some more interest. I'm curious to know how many of these they are planning to make

Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

If it was cheaper, Id buy it just to burn it. Hate JC. I think him acting like an idiot made TLJ rethink about himself and start acting like an idiot.

Re: Asmus Batman Forever Riddler

The price is insane !! It's the price for 2 amazing Hot Toys !!!

Iunno, I still think it looks like him. :dunno

I can see what you (and others) mean about it being cartoonish I guess. His features are slightly exaggerated, but that's what would make him immediately recognizable on the shelf.

Same kind of goes for the custom Bale. He's more exaggerated, but that's what makes him so recognizable - whereas, Hot Toys tends to play down peculiar features to make it a more generic handsome face.

I watched it a couple months ago, and liked it more than I was expecting. :)

And yes, HT BTAS figures FTW. :lecture

I am still waiting to see any price change.

Yeah, yeah. I like Batman Forever for the most part. I honestly do. It's just one of those movies that I consider a hassle to watch b/c I can't help but critique and nitpick things when I watch it. The worst part? I do it out loud. Even when there's no one else around.:cuckoo:

It's just that Two-Face wouldn't flip his coin until he got the desired result. What his coin decides is the only result that matters. Eff, I digress. But the fin on the Batmobile shouldn't have been so flimsy. That's all I have to say about that.

And I don't think BTAS HT would work very well. I'd like a Man-bat, Mr. Freeze, and a Phantasm for sure though.
