I think the variant was gone pretty much instantly (under a minute), the regular was gone in a couple minutes

I'd been refreshing for 2-3hrs and missed them!

I could tell they were up when it took a long time to refresh... but sadly they were both sold out.

They were up at 15.33 (UK time) and I time refresh around that time. They were sold out by 15.34-37 (UK time).

What a crazy sales technique. Even Rainman, who sells 20-30 of an item, lets folks know when they go up for sale. It's like they are trying to set up a market that buys solely due to rarity and difficulties in buying one.
