I just hope if they keep these more kid friendly that they at least make them a little less dumb.
See now that they've opened Pandora's Box with the Power Glove and Godzilla and Kong running I don't want them to dial it back.

Just stay the course and double down on stupid with each new movie. I want to see Professor Kong, girl Kong with lipstick and a dress (that some human bad guy inexplicably falls in love with halfway through the final battle,) Rambo Kong with bandana and machine gun, etc.

Yea then we will get minilla or whatever the hell that thing is and we’d be certainly doomed.

While GxK is not great I hope it does well enough to continue the series. Though I think it might be a good idea to get a different director for the next one. Maybe they should return back with Gareth Edwards or Michael Dougherty
GvK was dumb fun, but GxK jumped the shark for me.

Had time to think about it.

This has to be one of the most disappointing 3rd act climax not seen since the abysmal 3rd act of Dark Knight Rises.

The more I think about it the more I absolutely loved all of the Kong stuff right up to his first battle with scar king.

I loved the Kong stuff more than Skull Island and GvK!

I am so freaking bummed out with the full collapse of this movie once Shimo was introduced.

What a disastrous 3rd act.

Stupid zero gravity BS!

While you are much higher on all the Kong stuff in the first act (though I didn’t hate it) you are dead on about the climax.

:lol

let’s be honest though. Rampage was a better giant monster movie with far better monster battles and The Rock outshined all the human characters in GvK
The best part of Rampage was Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character, not The Rock's. The Rock can be charming but let's face it, he's Schwarzenegger Light (or in kaiju terms, Arnold Minus One). But yes, the monster battles in that one were pretty good.

I'm surprised you guys haven't mentioned the Temple Of Doom homage, what with Kong and Mini-Me Kong doing their best Indy & Short Round imitations and freeing the apes from slavery.

p.s. - I liked that the Legion guy really leaned into the ridiculousness of his Titan Dentist/Veterinarian character. He seemed to enjoy playing him. He was probably thinking "I can't believe this is going to earn me the biggest paycheck of my career" lol...

Yeah the zero gravity thing was ridiculous, but I thought the final battle on the surface was impressive and brutal, and felt like a decent end to the movie. And I'm not really sure what else people were hoping to see.

And I really didn't need the movie to be any longer. Lol

The stuff with the crystal I actually enjoyed at least it provided a reason for the light source in the hollow earth and I’m also very into Atlantis and that kind of stuff so I enjoyed that part.

I just really hated the freaking scientist.

The pilot-soldier guy died right in front of them and they were literally cracking jokes a second later lol :slap

The podcaster guy was so freaking annoying again as if any government would ever allow some youtuber nobody to film a secret facility.

I actually did like the relationship between the head scientist and the little girl I thought that was handled very nice and the only good human part of the story.

I agree. I’m just saying the rock has more charisma in his stool than most the cast in this film.

The vet was ok. I thought I would like him but they really did nothing with him accept let him play off the pod caster.

Yeah the vet had a cool entrance but they didn't do anything with him after that.

This movie really needed someone to punch up the dialogue and jokes, as it felt like the writers were barely even trying.

Agree on both counts. I so wanted that podcaster to get squashed like a bug - I'm pretty sure that would have received a standing ovation in my theater lol.

I thought the crystal stuff with the Hollow Earth Iwi Tribe was OK, but I was annoyed that there was no explanation as to how Skar King controlled Shimo with that crystal macguffin at the end of his spiny whip. That bugged me more than Kong's glove...

What were this damn dirty apes doing???

just moving rocks from point A to point B
I guess they were trying to build…

Ummm…

Disregard lol
And refresh my memory - what changed that suddenly made Skar King, Shimo and company more of a threat to escape from there? Was that "energy veil" failing (the one the vet guy brought down as easily as brushing away some cobwebs)?
