Proper lens + no forehead seamline mockup I did. What we could have gotten...

Part of the issue with the lenses is that they're pushed in too deep. That's how the first version was too and I plucked out the lenses on mine and reset them at about 70%, which helped. Sorry I have no photos.

My excitement for this has completely nosedived.
Was really looking forward to Tobey-Man and Cobb Vanth but the heads on both have been a big let down.

At least Spidey’s botched mask is on theme for the NWH figures given how Doc Ock’s face turned out.
They must be from the timeline where everyone looks just a bit more wonky than we remember them.

Still getting this as it's Tobey Spider-Man but if it's worse in hand I might sell it off and stick to final suit spidey instead.

If rumors are true about Tobey returning for one of the future Avengers movies (secret wars?), then I’ll just continue to wait on that or if HT eventually decide to make another red/blue for any of the other Rami trilogy movies. Unfortunately, this figure just doesn’t look like THE version of Spiderman I’ve wanted on the shelf as the one and only.

Cant believe they used the same lens design from the first figure, no depth in it whatsoever. So lazy, so sad, it could look so much better :(
Its easy to make a change in Photoshop but translating it to real-life and at that scale might not work. I agree the seam could be better, not sure what they were thinking having visible at the top of the head like that.

OK, guess all those people who voted for Tobey Maguire Spiderman in InArt's polls actually had a good idea. Hot Toys can't be relied upon to get it right.
They would probably do the younger version of him from his movies, wouldn't they?

I'm really torn with this figure. I want it to complete the Trio, but the more I look at it, the more I hate it.

Don't buy it and sell the others I say. I mean were the other two that much better as figures?
I wouldn't go that far. I'd sell my whole collection if I thought like that. :lol
I want to keep the Tom Holland figures regardless. And I haven't opened Andrew yet, but I didn't hate what i've seen of it. At least his neck seam isn't nearly as atrocious as it is on Tobey's figure. Though I may sell it anyway. I really only got it for the sculpt, because the first figure from ASM2 didn't have one.

Yeah, Im leaning towards cancelling this and just trying to get the diorama separately.
Between the enormous cost, the added tax and shipping from Sideshow I cant justify it if the figure itself isnt good.

Edit: - Yeah, I've cancelled, the glaringly obvious seam lines were what killed it for me in the end. Gotta hope I can get hold of this Sandman diorama piece for a non-ridiculous price. If anyone gets theirs and doesnt like it let me know and we can work out a deal.

I'm completing the trio since I'm going unmasked for all three and the nits on this one are primary with the masked head. Even with those nits, I love this suit so much and the reality is that on the shelf at 1/6 scale, noticing the seam or the webbing being slightly to high (or low or whatever) is a big shoulder shrug to me. These ultra zoomed in photos of just the head has people running for the hills. I'm sticking with mine and will be quite happy with it.

I feel like it’s only a matter of time before Hot Toys goes back and does Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3 figures.

They already have the templates and parts for Spider-Man (costume, body, hands), Green Goblin (suit, helmet, body, heads) and Doc Ock (body, tentacles, etc). Easy redos.

No seam on the forehead of the 1.0 but then having one on the 2.0 is rather annoying to see.

It sticks out more than Garfield's. I feel like the gap and edge on this one is thicker. Doesn't blend into the body as well.

Wow, based on this picture the Garfield version does look much better

...and as expected, in that group shot the only one that looks truly good is Holland.

Because it doesn't have that stupid-ass neck seam people demanded.

The worst part is that there's no modding that. You can't fix that, you can't change it.

For anyone who had to have a rolled collar for the unmasked sculpt, there were multiple choices from neck covers to altering your figure.

But you can't correct this ridiculous option.

I think "people demanding it" had less to do with things than "lazily change as little from the original design as possible", otherwise the Holland figure would have been updated with a neck seam

As much as Tobey is my Spider-Man, I really hope he doesn't show up in any other MCU movies as the MCU is now unfortunately a trainwreck.

Unfortunately, it looks like they're using this neck with the Holland final/new red and blue suit from NWH.

I do think you're right about laziness to update the Tobey and Andrew figures though.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. At this point the MCU will be lucky to make it to Avengers 5, let alone Secret Wars.
Not saying I want that, but unless they can get out of this hole they dug, I don't see the MCU lasting that much longer.

It's a damn shame that Disney doesn't take care of their toys, because it's the fans that suffer the most.
