1/6 Hot Toys - MMS 283 - Star Wars Episode IV: 1/6th scale Obi-Wan Kenobi

It was my first Star Wars from Hot Toys, so maybe I'm biased, but I really like him:

    Hot Toys ROTJ Emperor Palpatine

I was hesitant to remove the rest of the stitches, but after seeing those pics, I had to do it.

I’ve never displayed without his hood since release and no staining.

Hot Toys MMS429 - Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker

That looks pretty good. I removed the upper part as well, and left the legs. The shirt got a bit baggy but that’s ok, it wasn’t supposed to be skintight spandex in the original.

1/6 Hot Toys ROTS - COMMANDER CODY

I'd like to believe I wouldn’t, but I know I’d buy pretty much any Jedi they release.

I hope not. I’d like to eat. (I eventually realized that I like many more characters from the prequels than any other SW era)

Season 6 set it up, but the Kenan mini is where we saw exactly how it happened during and after Order 66 for the clones.

I think the Kenan miniseries is where we got the info about how the chip worked.

    Hot Toys Grand Moff Tarkin

I hope someday I’ll be able to get this. After Luke, Obi-Wan and Vader, Tarkin is my favorite ANH character. (One of my favorite bits of EU officialia is how there are several stories about how Vader super respects Tarkin in order to explain why Vader is clearly subservient to him in ANH)

On one hand, it’s as it should be. If you need countless TV episodes, novels and comics to explain the movies, it’s some weak storytelling. On the other, it’s Star Wars. In the first few minutes of Empire the Force went from some mild manipulation and increased awareness into full blown magic...

1/6 Hot Toys ROTS - COMMANDER CODY

Well, I replied just to make it clear that there were two distinct versions of the reason the clones complied to order 66 and that one suplanted the other in the official continuity of SW, then we got into the (IMO) interesting question of which version was better. I wasn’t commenting on...

1/6 Hot Toys ROTS - COMMANDER CODY

That’s no different than having different tools for different purposes, like handguns or automatic rifles. They were still machines, always ready to accept whatever input, without question. And while the chip was what made them less agressive than the template, they weren’t controlled by it...

1/6 Hot Toys ROTS - COMMANDER CODY

But the original version (and it was the original, as Lama Su described them, but if we cared that much about contradictions no one would make it past the first 5 minutes of Empire) precludes all that. They are not just trained from birth, the are programmed and modified to be compliant. They...

1/6 Hot Toys ROTS - COMMANDER CODY

The second version does that, allowing them the whole spectrum of development while still maintaining the storytelling necessity of the vast majority of them executing Order 66. With the first version, they are just simple minded automatons.

1/6 Hot Toys ROTS - COMMANDER CODY

Yeah, originally, circa the release of Revenge of the Sith, the clones executed Order 66 because that’s what they were trained to do; there certainly is no regret or hesitation when Cody orders Kenobi shot down. It was every bit a betrayal. But then the Clone Wars show happened, and some...
