True. Also, in case of a defective figure, it's much easier to handle an exchange with SSC who is the same state as me rather than send it back to Australia. -Kevin

They're showing SSC's Figrin D'an in stock at $80.75 shipped. The Tauntan is $277.25, but costs $95.31 to ship to the US. I almost bit on the TFA Snowtroopers set, which would end up about $25 cheaper than using the May 4th promo code from SSC. -Kevin

My suggestion is to keep checking if you're looking to buy one. It showed as sold out on the day they changed it from "pre-order" to "add to cart." I assumed that I had missed out or that they had done it on purpose to keep people from using the discount like you said. I happened to check again...

FYI, Midtown offers a 20% discount on your first purchase via their iOS app, so I used it on the DeLorean once it was available there.
