This is the look they were going for. Blank stares will often come off as cross eyed, however the eyes are straight, but the eye
sockets themselves are closer to the brim of the nose than the real pics of Hopkins to the left.

A paint job to the head sculpt for the straight jacket version and its a great figure. But Blitzway really should be ashamed with how far it dropped off from the promo. Their Ghostbusters dropped a little but this drop off is inexcusable.
Man the paint app is laughable. Seriously I seen better on GI Joe Dolls of the 90's. The likeness is still there which is testament to how good the sculpt is.

It could be the camera or quality of the video making the sculpt look glossy and like a wax figure.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, it's so much worse in that video than the recent photos. Tyler also looked really glossy in every video I've seen but is pretty good in-hand.

The sculpt and expression seems more appropriate for the boiler suit look, when Starling first meets Lecter, overall it looks vey good. I think a lot of the hate comes from the dramatic difference we see from proto to final production with Blitz, Ghostbuster figs were the same. All companies are guilty of this including HT but Blitz seem the worse imo.
As ever though you never truly know what the fig looks like till you have it in hand, I swear photography is a dark art.

Who knows. Lol. It’s like some people poured vegetable oil on the faces, then took pics. My video literally shows you what you will get in hand. If you’re getting the same release? Haha! Even The crappy cell phone pics I took just for fun don’t have a shine to them. Lol. Maybe some folks like displaying their figures under suntan lamps? Lol.
