Paint apps and sculpt(s), it's absolutely no contest :lol

I like the look of the sculpt, I think from certain angles it captures the look of the puppet well. But even the proto paint is not as good as HT and the figure looks like it's a lower quality overall. $150 is good I guess if you wanted a cheaper option than HT; but you hardly get anything with this figure and I can't see much of a reason not to buy the HT one over this.

I got the hot toys esb Yoda, nothing floppy about it. For its price if you got a floppy one, instant replacement/refund imho, no excuse for that

Yeahhhh sticking with the HT ESB Yoda.. If you're dropping $150 already, might as well go the extra $50 for the far superior HT release. If money's so tight that 50 extra bucks is too hard to swing, then 1/6 collecting is probably the wrong hobby lol

I would say $150 goes back maybe two years. The 2011 Sideshow Yoda was $70 and came with a log and bendy snake.

And bridging a gap between Hasbro and Hot Toys would land it somewhere in the $100 range.

The talking/moving 9" Yoda is about $60 and the 12" one is maybe $25...

That being said, I'd love it if someone bridged that mass market and premium gap.

That Hasbro Yoda was $10, and I think I got mine on sale for $7.99 at Walmart. And honestly I would rather have this than the SSC offering. Not because it's more accurate or would look better on the shelf with the other 1/6 figures or anything like that. It doesn't pretend to be anything more than a fun toy, and I like fun toys, that's where this hobby started and I'll never lose that enjoyment lol.

Isn't the HT version a floppy mess?
Mine is perfectly fine. The body doesn’t seem loose at all. It’s a little different to work with obviously compared to a normal sixth scale figure but he stands fine. I’ve had him on his base which has no support stand and he doesn’t fall over. Also I’ve moved him to my desk occasionally just standing on his own and he’s fine.

Just looked at the product page here....$150? With no special stand ore diorama? No alternate portrait?

Just....wow. No.

Sideshow did such a great job with their Legendary Scale Yoda, it's a shame they couldn't have translated that to a 1/6 figure. I think it would have blown away every other version.

Pretty bare bones compared even to the HT version, but especially the original Sideshow figure that came with a log, snakes extra feet and hands. Sculpt is better here, but this is not a $150 figure and honestly I don't see any reason for releasing it since the Hot Toys version is still readily available. I figured this meant the Hut was being rereleased and maybe they were hoping to entice people with a bundle, but I don't see a Hut... just a so-so Yoda.

Mine is fine. If you want a floppy/tedious mess track down the first couple runs of Sideshow's Jawas. They look decent but probably the most annoying figures I have ever handled.

Yeah,I wanted the Jawa's too....the reason I said no on them.

Wow. Was really excited for this from the promo pic but the new photos look poor. Want the ht toys figure but just not sure about the colour.

The original Sideshow Yoda was floppy... and the Jawa's are a mess. But I didn't have any issues with the HT figure either. I think he can fall over easily due to the large head throwing off the center of gravity, but the joints are tight.

Having owned Ss, and HT Yoda and now seeing this: HT Yoda is the clear winner. Plus I don’t buy any of these excuses to try and knock it down.
No issues at all like floppy body or bad coloring. It is what it is.

I ended up using the original Sideshow body with the HT closed eye sculpt and was happy with the results... and in that way was able to extend the value of both figures rather than selling the Sideshow Yoda for a few bucks.

Hot toys esb Yoda's coloring is close to spot on the puppet in hand. No contest if you want a ot Yoda in 1:6 really, get it while its still available is my advice.

Gotta agree, while the HT Yoda might not be their best figure, this thing looks terrible and is too barebones. Further, we have to account for the trademark SS proto to production slide in quality that will inevitably happen.
