Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

The way I see it, I just want to see this line completed. Two-Face, Scarecrow, The Penguin, and The Gray Ghost and I would be content. I would love to see the likes of Bruce Wayne and **** Grayson, or more figures from Superman or Batman Beyond, but, at the very least, I would hope they could see this one through to the end.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Same here, I just want them to get those last few important fan-demanded characters out and I’m happy to call it a day. In fact, I’d be happy if they only give us Two-Face and Scarecrow at this point. The line would feel ridiculously incomplete without them.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I just have one question: someone have the selling results of this line? Because it "seems" that BTAS sold well, but at same time, DC Collectibles want to quit this line as soon as possible. A lot of B/C characters could be released in future, even few vehicles (bat cycles, bat glider, even bat boat), or playset (Arkham asylum above all).

So there is something wrong. DC can still make a lot of money milking this line, but they don't want. Are they hating money? So the only answer could be that these figures are not selling good, I think.
As future release, even a mixed espressions/accessories pack with one figure could be a good idea:

- Two face wih 2/3 heads + penguin fixed head (glass, cigarette) + zatanna head with no hat.
- Scarecrow + Batman MOTP Wide cape + clayface fixed head + joker cards etc.

So everyone would be engaged forever with this brand if they would realize our dreams.

What is your opinion about DC strategy? I really don't understand.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

The best I must have:
Two Face
Scarecrow
Rupert Thorne ( He's the most important gangster of Gotham)
Grey Ghost
Clock King

Less important:
Tony Zucco
Leslie Tompkins
Roland Daggett
Lucius Fox
Summer Gleeson
Rhino
Baby Doll
Wolfman
Mayor Hill
Swat figure

Batcycle

ect ect

But I know this is only my dream... I will not have all this complete collection of villains to display :thud: so sad

Baby Doll was included with Killer Croc if I'm not mistaken.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I just really hope they branch out to the other DCAU series. STAS, Beyond, JL, and JLU. I've been on a DCAU kick recently and re-watching these series really makes me appreciate how good the storytelling and character designs were/ are

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

DCC is making doomsday clock figures so at least they're not out of the action figure game just yet.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Not yet, maybe we'll have some news this weekend

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Well I guess that squashes your theory of DCC not being able to release 6 inch singles because of Mattel.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

MisterPL, I’ve seen you mention many times (on here and on The Fwoosh) your belief that Mattel will be doing their own line of Animated Series figures. I assume this is pure speculation on your part, and that you don’t have insider info, so I’m very curious as to what makes you believe this so strongly?

From my own point of view, I just don’t see that happening at all. For one thing, who would the market be? Surely those who love BTAS and action figures have already bought the DCC figures? Would trying to sell the same figures again to collectors who already have them be a smart move? And would said collectors want to spend as much as they already have on DCC figures for new Mattel ones? And if not aimed at collectors, then who? Kids who don’t know BTAS that well? And even if kids liked the look of them, would moms pay $25 (or whatever Mattel’s going rate for collector’s figures is) for them for their kids? Not to mention they’d be putting these figures out into a market already still filled with the DCC figures which can be readily found at comic stores. Sure, the Mattel figures would be in brick-and-mortar stores, but what extra audience would that get them other than kids and moms? I don’t know many collectors who ONLY shop at chain stores and not at comic shops or online. The only collectors I see buying Mattel BTAS figures are those who don’t like DCC for a specific reason so didn’t buy their figures.

For another thing, Mattel don’t really have specific lines as such anymore. They have an all encompassing DC collectors line, so IF they did make BTAS figures then they’d be mixed in with their Multiverse line. That means they’d only make one or two figures. What would be the point? Would collectors who already own the DCC figures - or even those who don’t - want just two or three Mattel BTAS figures and that’s it?

I do get what you’re thinking. Mattel have seen the BTAS 6inch figures sell very well and want a slice of the action. But I just feel it’s too late for that really. They needed to get in the game when DCC only had a few waves out, not after DCC have pumped out 50+ figures and a range of vehicles/playsets.

So yeah, I’m just curious why you feel so strongly this will happen, cos I just don’t see it.

This isn't just a Batman line. It's an Animated line. With Gods and Monsters, Superman, and apparently now Justice League, it's an all-encompassing line of 1:12 scale figures based on the DCAU.

I wouldn't expect Mattel to immediately tread territory DCC has already covered so well and so recently. I'd expect them to take note of how much demand there still is for this "Timmiverse" style and take a stab at JLU because it offers a huge stable of animated characters never before offered in this format. Even Eagelmoss is dipping into the JLU waters now.

JLU appeals to adult collectors and still has a perfectly kid-friendly look. WB Home Video continues to support this aspect of the franchise. Mass market figures could get away with common bucks thanks to the art style. It seems like a good fit for the master toy licensee.

On the other hand, Mattel already has Justice League Action. I don't know how well that's doing but to your point it's doubtful they'd be interested in both. Unless JLA was doing poorly and they were interested in adding JLU to their Multiverse line (the way they add everything else to that brand), I wouldn't expect them to arbitrarily dump it.

But it's starting to look like a moot point. :)

You're assuming this is a 6-inch scale figure. ;)

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Indeed. But I see no reason to assume they aren’t 6-inch scale.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Three things:

I want to know what scale this DCC JL line is. (DCC's Superman figure looked like they were growing the scale.)

I want to know what the MSRP is. (The window box packaging tends to be more expensive than blister cards.)

I want to see what Mattel's offering.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

If Mattel says, "Hey, we have zero interest in JLU. Knock yourselves out, DCC," then yes, everyone's happy.

But if they want to flex the muscles built into their agreement and say, "NO. This is OUR scale," then DCC might justify moving to the 6.75" scale by insisting this is a different line. (New packaging, different show, blah blah blah.)

We'll see.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I see no ankle pivot or accessories/base. SAD.:( And I bet they will cost even more than BTAS or TNBA figures.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm pretty sure I see an ankle pivot. Not sure what I'd add as accessories aside from hands and an Oreo™ cookie. DCC's not as great as they could be at touting what's inside via their packaging.

Not sure what to expect as far as MSRP. Essentials is $26 at 1:11 scale but no accessories.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

MisterPL, did you work on the packaging for a possible Mattel animated line?
Answer 1 for yes or 2 for no. [emoji14]
