its nice.. but for some reason all those xm star wars statues are somehow not appealing to me and not tempted to own at all. I much more prefer the SS new PF over this.. not because this is more money or harder to get.. its just not for me for some reason...

I agree, I just can't get into this version, despite the fact that this is from one of my favorite scenes in all the prequels.

The fully sculpted look doesn't do it for me. I feel like Sideshow captured the character and his aura much better, despite how simple (and cheaper) the PF is.

This is a very nice statue, no doubt, just not my style at all. XM's comic book statues are far superior to their Star Wars line for now.

im the same way, i prefer fully sculted over mixed media 99% of the time BUT i have to say, I rather enjoy SS's surfing boba fett with mixed media over XM Studios boba fett. one of the rare times i prefer mixed media over sculpted

I too prefer the fully sculpted to mixed media as well....after all, how many statues did Michelangelo sculpt with mixed media?:impatient:

I love everything about this statue and have it pre-ordered. The icing on the cake would be a light up saber. keeping my fingers crossed !

Well i just sent the NRD to one of their dealers in Singapore. This is my first XM Star Wars :).

they even call it here "Comic Version" that makes sense in regards how i see all XM Star Wars Statues so far IMO

It's probably a typo as none of the other XM Star Wars statues are called Comic Version. Even if it is, it's still better looking then anything SS has done with this character IMO.

I really dont care if that is "'Comic version" or not. Clearly Maul is at his best in Clone war animated series at the end of SS5 and in "Sieg of Mandalore arc"and his fate was carried out in the Comics when Disney axed the Clone Wars and replaced with Rebels. And this statue really capture that vibe of him, not that short fated in The Phantom Menace.

I have to veto on that.. the new PF is fantastic and I think also the portrait looks miles better then the XM and you can see clearly Ray

Chatty weirdo Darth Maul sucked imo. They ruined the character for me. To each his own.

Plus, "comic" or not, this is straight out of The Phantom Menace, minus the fact that he only had one blade lit. He didn't even have his speeder in Clone Wars, and his face looked nothing like Ray Park's (I love CW, just not what they did with Maul).

Yeah, the likeness of the PF is indeed far superior imo.
Not gonna debate the rest of the statue as it's all about taste, with the huge variation in poses and how they did the clothing. Of course XM's is a far more complex statue, but that doesn't make it necessarily a better interpretation.

Miles better?

XM's version has a lot more detail to his face then SS, IMO.

not want to start arguing.. but yes.. it is better.. SS has a more realistic skin texture.. more realistic skin wrinkles .. the XM has very pronounced wrinkles around the yes and brows.. even your pictures out of the movie shows Ray does not have that much. The horns from SS look also more detailed over the one from XM. XM got the teeth.. yeah.. but sideshow facial expression is relaxed

but hey.. Im happy you found your maul for your taste ! ;)

SS has no wrinkles, his whole head is smooth.... Looks like he just got a Botox treatment. Not to mention SS has green tinted horns which he doesn't have in the movie picture.

Neither SS or XM is 100% accurate, but my point was XM does not look like a cartoon/comic book as insinuated a few posts ago..

again.. to me.. all star wars XM statues have a kind of comic touch to it (or something like the unleashed series from about 10 years back by Hasbro).. not sure why (guess thats just an XM style) and this maul is no exception to me ...which is not a bad thing.. for the ones who like that style
