Yeah I used to enjoy a good slasher film.....but now they don't work for me either.....just seems like a string of kills loosely pit together with so,e weak plot.

Devils Rejects is a prime example.....nothing to that movie at all but a bunch of kills....

I hate most of Rob Zombies movies but I actually enjoyed this one because I really hated that family and wanted to see them get what they deserved. I use to really enjoy it but then Rob Zombie kept making films and I got tired of his trailer white trash shtick.. It ended up impacting my enjoyment of Devils rejects.

What about the conjuring?

Loved it and still do!
The sequel is good too.

But that's the kind of horror I enjoy. Possessions, spirits, curses, evil spells.

The hack and slash horror with a body count no longer works for me, but I enjoy watching the older ones I grew up watching ( Halloween, F13, NOES).

I liked the Conjuring... BUT James Wan and I just find different things scary.. I think he has great ideas and set ups and knows how to be creepy. But he looses me a little with the over the top possession of the mother, or actually showing the witch on the wardrobe. I hated everything about the "other side" in the Insidious films.. Wan seems to fins dolls and smiling spirits scary.. Does not work for me.. I prefer the original The Haunting and Legend of Hell House.

Now don;t get me wrong.. I like the other fillms I just comment on them because I don;t hold them in as high regard... However I did think Insidious 2 was utter crap. They all could be just a bit more subtle.. Like in the first film when she falls into the basement and sees the crying ghost in the mirror saying "see what she made me do" Good and creepy. Yes? But then the Boo scare comes and shows us the ghost face right up close... Takes me out of the film as I can relate to creepy and the unknown.. Not to boo scares and silly looking ghost..

But I do enjoy them for what they are and they do have some very good moments.

I rated the Conjuring really high when I first saw. It genuinely creeped me out. Unfortunately after rewatching it recently it lost its potency, wasn't as good this time around.

I just picked up the ex after receiving an email.
