Yes.
The front boot (right foot) it is designed to be glued,
and it is glued at shipping,
but the package box (poly box) isn't made strong enough to protect,
and it is why the boot fell off.

So superglue it back on is actually the best way to recover its original design.
and will keep your figure sturdy on top.

Wait. I'm hoping I'm misunderstanding that. You're saying you glued the boot into the head before shipping it? What about those who want to pose just the troll head with Legolas next to it in a detolf? 😣

Yeah, it was a surprise to me as well to see a boot permanently fixed on the troll head when I took it out of the box. Odd as the Styrofoam has two trays for both boots and only one of the boot fixtures was in them--I thought one was missing until I unpacked the rest. The plus is once Legolas is plugged in, he won't be toppling anywhere. The bad is, as you mentioned, the right boot is glued into the head and you'll need to snap it off if you're to display it any other way.

So they did not include a second pair of boots? I don't bash Asmus very much but that sucks if so.

He comes wearing a pair of boots that is separate from the ones used for displaying with the troll. One boot of the second pair of boots is glued in to the head of the troll, so you can't display the troll next to Legolas because it would have a boot sticking out of his head. If you want to display the troll you have to display it with Legolas on top of it.

The figure does come with standard pair of boots already on him with great ankle articulation. The pair In question are the ones that plug into the top of the Troll head. Those are stiff and preformed. Only one of those boots plug in whereas the other is pre-glued to the top of the head.

Well, makes me glad I ordered the regular. But a bit of a bait and switch here, pre-order pictures clearly show a completely separe Troll head (I don't see a boot sticking out).

Very true.
It appears to have been a last minute decision to glue the boot on by Asmus.

Yes, it is the only way we can keep Legolas firmly on top of the troll,
it is to glue the display boot.

If not so, eh will be shacking as hell. and never get the pose right,
something we have to sacrifice if we want to display the whole set without any stand to support.

I actually prefer it the way Asmus has done it. I wouldn't have minded if Gandalf had been the same way but for Aragorn's have the stand attach works for me because it is not too noticeable and there are so many different ways to have him on the steps that I would not want his feet locked in to a certain spot.

I know what you mean. I love the pillar base for Thranduil but I can never get him positioned on it the way I would like.

To be honest the Troll head is always called "base" and has a big hole in the middle of the forehead in the pics:

The only other way to do it should have been magnets (strong magnets), but that's way more complicated.

Finally managed to open up Leggy.
Quick comparison with old SSC (repainted and re-handed):

Mine came with the boot on its place:

..but with the scabbards mounted backwards:

this is the correct scabbard alignment:

big head is suuuuch a cool idea for a base!

This is by far the best Amsus figure until now, everything is well crafted and detailed. I particularly love the full pack of arrows, the good choice for bowstring material (sort of fishing wire?), the articulated boots. Tailoring is tight fitting and nice looking. :yess:
I could go nitpicking on colors (quiver straps, vambraces, HAIR) but my real complaint is the odd choice of including just one bow/quiver, expecially the wrong one with such scene specific ultra-cool looking base. I can use the old SSC but honestly the full kit of that figure is blatantly from another era. :thud:

Finally received the Asmus Toys 1/6th scale Legolas Luxury Edtion with the troll head base. The troll head was a nice concept by Asmus, but first impressions are that it's a pretty much a failure on their part in execution!

Firstly the packaging for it is ridiculous, with very bad quality foam that just breaks apart trying to take it out.

Secondly, I hate that the frickin boot is actually glued right into the back of the troll head, as opposed to being removeable like it was in the promotional photos!! I think a far better solution would've been to increase the size of the base to allow the addition of a bendable flight pole, or make the pegs deeper!

Lastly, with the troll head and boot being glued together, you'd think they'd package it more securely! But the way it was placed in the foam was bad and loose. Luckily mine arrived intact unlike some others, but it's still bloody ****!

So those are bad first impressions! Haven't unboxed Legolas himself yet, so hopefully that's a better experience!

Agree on both. Also the troll head package is ridiculously big. Another possible solution for the boots (that seem resin cast) should have been using the same rubber-like material they used for the two piece on the figure with a fatter peg.

This was my biggest question for Asmus with the figure. Not a deal breaker at all but it just seemed like the both bows would a given. Most people might miss that the quivers are different so that is not as big a deal to me as the bow.

I guess I got lucky with the boot on the top of the head being loose/lightly glued - it came right out. I'll see if it holds the figure up enough just inserting it as opposed to being glued in, but I'd rather use some tack to hold it in place.
