Preach! Not that they don't look amazing but nearly all of the XM and Prime 1 stuff can be had right around retail. Way too many companies, way too many statues and too few dollars

Exactly. Sideshow and Prime 1 pieces in particular rarely hold their value. XM is a bit different. They purposely keep their edition sizes under 1000. So, if they hit on a hot character like Ghost Rider, Magneto, Venom, or Cable, those pieces do appreciate. However, most of their other merch can also be had for around retail. Even some of their high priced aftermarket pieces dropped like a bomb. Look at Wolverine, Phoenix, and Thanos. Some collectors ponied up $2000 a pop to acquire those statues and now they are selling for about $1000 in the aftermarket. Bottom line, don't fall for the hype and buy pieces of characters you truly want in your collection. Also, never be afraid of a REG selling out. No Marvel REG has sold out quickly nor held its value in the aftermarket the last few years. None.

Will the ex hold its value? Or will the huge regular ES affect it to

Yes, the EX will. It was in great demand and has an excellent EX portrait along with a low 750 ES. However, there are flippers and members here cranking up the hype machine to no end. If you missed out on the EX and want to pick it up in the aftermarket, wait. Don't jump on the ridiculous $4000 prices flippers are trying to get on ebay. Wait until a few weeks after release. Let all the idiots pick up the EX at ridiculous BIN prices. Wait for a couple of auctions and bid away. You'll probably have to drop a few hundred dollars more than retail to get one but you sure as hell won't have to drop $1800 more for what amounts to nothing more than an extra portrait. This piece reminds me of 2 clichés. 1.) Slow and steady win the race. 2.) A fool and his money are soon parted.

Man i guess im lucky i buy what i like and can afford. All this flipping and hoping value stays or increases or buying 1 ex and 2 regulars just to keep the ex in the box is kinda freaking exhausting to me. No offense to anyone.. i just didnt know before joining forums what the whole story is behind collecting comic statues lol

Yea ...that side of statue collecting is exhausting. I stay out of it most of the times ...and I just stay abreast of it just for my FYI. But for the most part, I just collect for enjoyment.

It wasn't the good days of doom pf anymore so if anyone is going to collect out of profit now it has to be low es or exclusive which sucks for the regular versions

There are just so many statues coming out these days (especially Batman statues). Plus retail prices have exceeded what collectors are willing to pay in the aftermarket for most statues. I must be misjudging collectors' wallets and new collectors entering the market because it feels like the statue market is going to burst soon.

I've been saying that for quite sometime now.....I've been selling most of my collection other then Spidey and Hulk items and it's near Impossible to sell some of this stuff anymore, and the stuff I can sell is way below highs of years ago...

argeed... The low ES of the Ex. will keep the price elevated but not double the price. I would be thinking you can have it for maybe $500 over retail at some point. The reg es will keep the mark up on the ex. down and wait 6 months after release and the next big hyped piece will come out to leave this one in the dust....

I find it interesting the even GhostRider from XM has pretty much no talk anymore and I'm sure down the road it will be had for a good price as well.
There's just to much stuff coming out from to many companies for a bubble not to happen..

I hate the fact that both versions are the same price. Make the Ex higher and we can decide which one we want. Or offer the additional potrait. I don't even care about having the lower edition as getting that potrait.I put my order in as soon as I got the email, but didn't get the exclusive. A couple of hours later there were 10 of them listed on ebay.

It has been happening a lot lately up where I am. many pieces are selling below retail, and guys are just sucking up the loss. Honestly, I won't buy anything I don't love and want to have in my collection forever anymore because chances are I will lose money on it if I sell it.

The whole point of the ex is so you buy direct from sideshow and cut out the wholesale price the regulars go to retailers for.

I haven't seen that as of yet with my pieces I'm selling off but I have no doubt it will be coming when I get down to the last of them.
I finally got rid of the last of my Star Wars and LOTR pieces a couple months ago. It takes time and patience though and with the thanks to the dollar exchange it probably broke even on those ones. Time will come though when I lose money on the last of the marvel pieces I'm selling.
Over all though I'm still ahead of the game as I've stopped buying most of the stuff offered by sideshow. I'm sure I'll lose on the XM stuff I'm buying if I want to sell it right away, but as said before it's stuff that's close to my heart (Spidey) so I'm ok with that and who knows in the future some of those may go up in value as well.

Your right, it does seem like a lot of prices have took a fall from what was being asked months ago. Especially XM. It is crazy to think those pieces were once flying around for over $1500.00 ... now your lucky to get $800.00. The cables and ghost riders had asking prices of near 2k ... now they are even falling fast as well.

In a way its kind of nice in a sense that people that actually want a statue can now get it without taking a second mortgage on their home and having to suffer with accepting flipper prices if they really want it.

The end of statue flipping has finally arrived :clap

A new erra of rising retail prices instead has come :rotfl

With the retail price so high. It makes it hard for o flip haha

:lol, Retail has become the new flipper. I am very fortunate and lucky to have been able to create a pretty awesome collection with a mix of about 50 different statues from Marvel/DC, Warcraft, and TMNT statues. I am glad I was able to do so when they were priced around $300-400 a statue at pre-order. Now it has become difficult to stay in the game when pieces are now climbing at an alarming rate.

There are some I make work that I REALLY want, but I feel if the prices for a premium format go over $700.00 I am priced out. $500-$600 is even tough to swallow sometimes.
