You've never had your credit card number stolen? That's incredibly lucky. Last time someone got mine was right after I used it to buy gas one time (which is a known way to swipe someone's number).

Nope. None whatsoever. I guess I've been incredibly lucky.

Eh, what can I say. I like to live dangerously. Also, according to Budget Stark this cost 5100 directly from Secret Base in March 2015, which would have been $660 at the time. And buyers had to put down a 50% deposit there to preorder. I can easily, EASILY, see a scenario where someone preordered a number of these and is just looking to offload them after two years to get as much of their original investment back as possible.

I've sold on eBay for years and years, and I can tell you I would certainly be doing exactly the same for something so pricey that has been delayed for so long.

Glad I had like $200 in reward points to knock the price of HB down ... I wouldn't feel great about pre-ordering it on eBay ha

Just wait until a year after its released and it's sold out everywhere and secondary market prices are through the roof.

Yeah, I can't imagine supply being very high on this. I expect it to sell out soon after it finally releases in HK.

Well I think it will all probably be a moot point anyway since I for sure will have to cancel it if it doesn't release before my 6 month PayPal protection ends. And let's be honest, that's highly likely, ha.

I'm curious, have you had bad experiences on eBay with sellers like this that have been members for 5 or so years and 100% feedback? He's also sold a few buy it now figures for well above retail, like $725 Hulkbusters, and I believe in Hong Kong it retails for around U.S. $600.

We'll see. I give it 40:60 it will come through. With the available protections I think it's worth the chance.

Most of the scammers I've seen, they would build up hundreds of perfect feedbacks selling cheap stuff, then suddenly switch gear to rare HT and Sideshow stuff, and blow it all in one month with a huge chain of scams and red negative feedbacks to follow.

This seller, I feel like he's not like a career scammer, but that doesn't mean he's honorable enough to go through with the sell either, because lets face it, he doesn't have to. After 30 days, Ebay can't take money away from him, so even if he doesn't honor the sell, the refund will come out of PayPal's pocket, if that ever happens. There is a chance you'll get nothing back, the system isn't perfect, so it's kind of risky IMO.

The most common thing I've seen, is that when the item is out and you contact him regarding your pre-order, he'll simply give you back your $600 and tell you he can't score a Hulkbuster, that's usually what happens when a seller isn't trying to scam you but doesn't want to honor the sell either, I've seen that happen a lot.

Sorry, but it seems to me you're really just trying to justify the pre-order and convince yourself that you weren't scammed.

From all of the Sideshow members to you: IT'S A SCAM!

:slap

Get your money back while you still can!

Lol. I will get my money back from PayPal if necessary. Their buyer protection is 180 days.

Also, I've been researching all of the past sold items from this seller and they are all, almost every one, incredibly rare and expensive collectibles, statues, and clothing. Like a $500 Metal Gear Solid Seiko watch, $300 Princess Mononoke statues, an $800 set of 12 inch Beastie Boys figures, $400+ figures of some Japanese characters I've never heard of, some $500 jackets and sunglasses from brands that I am not rich enough to be familiar with. All sold with positive feedback at prices that are in line with the current eBay listings for those items ($500-1000). So I'm feeling pretty confident about this now :wave

Well hope it works out for you.

Just think it's odd that the seller had 4 listings up for the Hulkbuster and has pulled all but one now.

Hmm...

I just happen to stumble upon this thread because I am looking at the hulkbuster. I only buy SW figures but most of them I buy direct from hot toys in HK through a relative. A figure listed for 205 plus shipping on Sideshow costs me a little under 160. I am not even a HT VIP so yea, that price is reasonable.

Yes but $160 + 10% Ebay/Paypay fee + international shipping will end up around $190, so if your relative where to sell that exact item on Ebay, he would need to sell it at $190 just to break even, anything less and you end up owing Ebay money.

Sellers on Ebay simply can't match those prices, even with zero profit, he still has to pay fees just to sell online, that's why Ebay prices all hover around the same rate, it's pretty consistent.

On another note, that's why many non-Ebay sales are consistently $10 - $20 cheaper.

I remember at one point thinking this would be out for my 34th bday in August, then I told myself I guess this will be my Xmas present to myself, now is looking like is back to a bday present, except my 35th bday :lol

Budget Stark just put up Hot Toys' release schedule updated on May 5th, 2017. It's still showing the Hulkbuster to be released in Q2 of this year. You would think that if they wanted to push it back they would have done it by now.

I'll bet based on this we'll see in the states in August.
