the problem with that thinking is that not everyone has deep pockets. the 3% of their forum customers might but their target market these days which is the casual 1 time collector won't be willing to drop $900 bones on a statue.

Agreed. They've priced me out. I wanted to companion the DC villains with the justice league statues but with the insane prices I'll just buy the heroes.

I'm definitely expecting worst case scenario (price wise) to mentally prepare myself for what this piece actually ends up costing.

Hoping for best case scenario when it comes to production for us collectors as well as Sideshow as the creators of this piece. It does seem like they're going the extra mile to point out they put their best into this piece, and if what we get in hand matches what I've seen so far then this will be a must have.

I am just floored by how amazing Thanos turned out and can't wait for the official reveal. I have been thinking a lot about my collecting end-game lately and I think Thanos will be a great swan song.

it is all about pushing the envelope. SS is trying to maximize profits (frankly at a level I thought not possible). My guess is at least $1k and open edition size with no exclusive (like galactus). They will milk this sucker for as long as they can.

I will also add that we all might be surprised by the number of collectors wallowing in credit card debt to fund this addiction...and SS knows it (although it isn't their responsibility whatsoever). Or of course, collectors trying to convince themselves that the price is "ok" because they can flex it.

btw, I am just as bad (in terms of convincing myself a statue is "worth it").

I'd have to guess that this MAQ will appeal most to hard core collectors. I can see a casual collector dropping big $$$ one time for a character like Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, HULK, or Cap. These are popular characters that appeal to the masses. However, how many casual collectors will drop over a grand on Thanos? I can't believe there will be many. I believe a collector has to be a hard core Thanos fan to drop the kind of money SSC is looking for with this MAQ. I personally don't believe there are many big time Thanos fans who will buy just this statue, as a causal buyer would. Hell, you have some HUGE Thanos fans on all the boards saying they would buy this in an instant if they could afford it, but will probably have to pass on it because of the price tag. I think the price tag will create a natural lower ES on this piece. The higher the price, the lower the ES. That's if they don't go with an open ES like they did with Galactus.

I have been saving for awhile now. I knew someday something huge would come out that I really wanted ... and getting this piece at a major discount will be well worth the wait and patience in handling my reward points.

I am hoping worse case scenario he is $999.99. Sure makes it easier to drop the remaining $275.00 to lock the mad titan up.

"For after all, I am Thanos"!

Sideshow will be laughing rubbing their hands with people quoting ridiculous 1.5k. If it is this hobby is getting to be a joke with prices

I totally agree that the new price points are becoming a bit tough to swallow, but I feel it is largely due to the aftermarket prices that people are willing to pay. This marketing strategy basically cuts out the “Flipper” and allows the manufacturer to advertise a product for up two years (even 3 years such as the Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman premium formats). Heck they even bumped up the prices on 2 of those 3 items $50.00 … but they must be selling in order for them to make that decision.

Yeah I'm sure it really factors in

They definitely know these forms exist and see what people discuss, but it also goes hand in hand if people want their opinions and voices heard. These are the forums that allow some of that communication to exist.

Hey you guys are scaring me LOL. My "get out of the collecting game strategy" is to have this maquette dead center of the avengers assemble line. I meed this to be no more than 899. Please pray for me thanks[emoji23]

I am praying with you brother ! It's tough to call as the Wolverine Vs. Hulk was $649.99, but Deadpool 2.0 was $699.99 :gah:
