Only image I can find on google that sort of resembles that expression.

Pulled up the movie on my phone and the expression kind of matches the part where he goes to check Marty Jr with the binoculars, "precisely on schedule". Eyebrows are still off though.

Pardon the crummy picture, phone wouldn't let me take a screenshot while the movie was going on

Not much point judging this sculpt too harshly when they've already said it's not final. HT obviously knew it wasn't right but wanted to get him up for preorder the same time as Marty.

If people don't buy these I doubt we'll ever get the hover Delorean. Hopefully they show an upgraded version soon to generate more preorders. Worked wonders for Batfleck when they showed the upgraded muscle suit. Ended up being figure of the year, so I still have hope for Doc.

I do wonder if this might be one of the few figures that would work better with rooted hair. Hard to really capture that chaotic look with sculpted hair.

I always thought the expression was the "damn im late" bit. Best pic i could grab of it though. Personally i like the sculpt. I do hope that the promo one isnt the one we get but meh, ill still take it. Its most likely the only doc we get and i suspect doc and marty will be the end of the line

I didn't buy either figures because of Doc's expression. I am more of a neutral expression guy, would have been nice if they included both.

I don't know if can see Doc with a neutral expression, but if they're doing an extreme expression like this one, it'd be nice if they'd also include a more versatile one as well.

The expression is off.....but thats definitely Chris...
Just not Chris as "Doc" if there was ever a figure that needed rooted hair its this one....

This is a good look (Ht can send me my input check here.....

This.

Even without rewatching the scene and simply pulling from memory, the scene that came to mind that best resembles the expression on the sculpt was as you mentioned, "Damn! I'm late!" I couldn't recall if he had the silver glasses raised up on his forehead though. This seems to pretty much be the only pose that would match the sculpt, so you're almost forced to have to put him in it.

I really want to get Marty because BttF II is my favorite BttF film, but it'd be odd having two Martys and no Doc. I really would like to get Doc as well, but I almost feel like I'd be forcing myself to get him, which means I don't really want him.

If the sculpt ends up being what is shown, I suppose one could get the figure and then hope that a place like OSK offers an after market sculpt that bears a bit better likeness and potentially a better expression.

Am I the only one who thinks the Marty sculpt looks off as well? I'm imagining a scenario where the Doc sculpt gets reworked from the prototype and looks awesome but then Marty still looks...off.

I think Marty looks good.....but he looks like the Marty in the Diner scene.....where he is pretending to be his son......the rest of the movie he looks kinda ragged...

Yeah, to me the Marty sculpt is nearly a spitting image of him from the exact scene when he first donned his son's cap and stood up from behind the counter, right before hopping over it to confront Griff.

Yeah I dunno, I still don't see it. Especially when I go look at various other stills from the movie and compare it to the proto shots. Hard to put my finger on what exactly, almost like it's just a bunch of little things that are off that combined make it look really odd to me, like an uncanny valley effect. It's the eyes and jawline I think. Also for some reason I get an "annoyed and hungover" attitude from his expression, lol.

I also didn't think the first Marty sculpt looked anything close to accurate either, fwiw. Doc looks off for sure but for some reason it doesn't bother me quite as much since it still captures the character to me.

Again, I think the likeness is there.....the chosen expression leaves alot to be desired on both...

Which is kinda disappointing......both Michael and Chris have some very good , and repeated expression throughout all the films, that could easily beat this.

Likeness is definitely there with the Marty figure. A lot more than it is with Doc, in my opinion. Expression on Doc leaves a lot to be desired and Marty sort of does, but again, not as much as Doc in my opinion.

I have interest in the Marty figure, but no interest in the Doc figure at this moment, unfortunately.

So general consensus.....no BTTF doc.....only BTTF2?

Wasted opporotunity....

I'd be all for a Pt1 Doc, but which version to choose? Older 1985 Doc from the beginning/end or the 1955 Doc which was his look for most of the film. And then which outfit? And then does it match the 1985 Marty?

While I wouldn't care which look I can see why they skipped Doc and tested the waters with 1985 Marty. I'm happy with Doc's 2015 look. Happy to support that we're getting it.

Now, I'd be all in for 1885 western Doc and Marty but I don't see it happening.

Mines a long way off being completed I bought this from a fellow boardie. I need to get that hair seem sorted and the hair trimmed a tad and then add a fews things. Shoes will be painted along with the remote :)

Radiation suit Doc would have been a much bigger seller than the one coming down the pike. If they don't fix the head sculpt on the one coming out it's an easy pass for me. I don't like the sculpt and I don't like the outfit. Come on Hot Toys!
