Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Wow... I saw now the news about that set.. this company is making fun of us.. I really don't care if these character are "a must", I really would get them but I'm not gonna pay that price for that horrible set. It have so much problems... DCC really pissed me off this time. Never received a reply (or even a feedback) at every mail I've sent them (and I was very polite writing them), and now they expect we all pay that price for that useless/cheapy/horrible box??? HELL NO. Gonna buy them in other way... No chance DCC gonna see my money again. Screw them.

It's $139 on BBTS. You figure these retail now at $28 a piece, x5 =$140 + the cost of the box, I think $139 is a fair price.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Hello all - so I bought the first few waves of Animated figures and gave up after multiple broken joints. Can anyone advise as to whether the figures are more durable than the early releases / are you guys just being super careful / was I just unlucky?

I hate the fact that all these great animated figures are out there but I've become gun-shy about collecting them.

Newer figures are more durable than the earliest ones. Occasional breaks still happen from time to time, but DC Collectibles' customer service is impeccable, and they will replace figures.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm believe he was actually in Arkham at the end of "Heart of Ice." Some of the writers didn't seem totally sure where all the villains belonged in the early episodes: Ivy is put in Stonegate at the end of "Pretty Poison," and I think even Killer Croc might have even been in both places, too, and he's not mentally ill, either. As far as the boxset goes, just tell yourself they were all just arrested and those are holding cells. Or throw out the box.

That's right. Just checked "Heart of Ice" and he was taken to Arkham at the end, later being in Stonegate, in "Deep Freeze".
Indeed. I've noticed that, too. Maybe they also just simply wanted the villians to be in the classic Arkham? I mean, to the general people, "where do all Batman villians go? To Arkham". :lol
Anyway, LMAO!! At that price, I don't think I can dare throwing out that box... :rotfl

It does man! That **** wouldn't look good with any of our displays! Plus what if the box is damaged before arriving to our LCS or homes? Or will it be a box in a box? If so we couldn't be able to see the figs before opening. Just an overall weird idea. I would have way rather had Nora and a Cryo tank or Ivy's plant from the movie Teeth

Yea those 4 are definite musts. Freeze and Ivy especially, but I love em all. They would never be able to even try that laughable price with B listers. I would rage if that **** happened lmao. Yea I can imagine being upset if you only want one or two of these. I want them all, but that box man... it's a ****ing box! Who puts lights in a cardboard box?! I'm looking forward to the inevitable hilarious video of Kevin or the other guy (forgot his name) hyping up all of the boxes "awesome functionality and play aspects" lmao. While it's all half ripped and taped together and broken like all their proto **** lolol
Yea I don't know about Bane. If we didn't already have Penguin and Joker, and they added Two Face, this would have worked way better as an "Almost Got 'Im" set

I hope they scrap the stupid thing period and just release them all single. Maybe there will be negative response at toyfair and they'll say forget it

Haha I was so sick for the past week I thought I was going to be lol. Forshoo man

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

The eventual video!!! :rotfl They will worship the box even if the one they're handling in the video is broken. LMFAO
Trying to hype up this release. :rotfl

Indeed 100%, man! Worst idea ever this boxset, seriously. From start to finish.
I so hope the backlash at ToyFair is so massive, the following week they cancel this set and announce all five individually, with a new, fixed proto image of Ivy.
Actually, at this point, what concerns me the most is Ivy, rather than the box itself. I pray several people at ToyFair criticizes her in front of Kevin and Jim (the other guy). I'd rather get her fixed in this set than the way the proto is now individually, honestly.

Oh, man... I so wanted the Nora Snow Globe. :( Not as essential as Freeze's gun, but a sweet accessory.

He's usually housed in Arkham due to Arkham's ability to house super villains with special physical needs. In this case, Freeze's need for a cell to be at sub zero temperatures. A normal prison isn't equipped for that, but apparently Arkham is. I don't know if every cell is adaptable or if they just build cells specifically for each 'patient.' I think you could argue Freeze is mentally ill like a mad scientist. He's not cuckoo like Joker, but a guy running around freezing people isn't entirely in his right mind either. Its just makes things tidier to have all of Batman's rouges in one place. :lol

DCC has never seemed to quite grasp the idea of box sets to me. They either make you buy 4 old figures again to get 1 exclusive one (Arkham Bruce Wayne) or they over charge what you would have paid for the figures separately (this new BTAS set). Every figure is new, so that is out of the norm for a box set. I don't know why they'd think we'd want fancy packaging with lights and crap. We can't display the rest of the line in the box like this so why would we want ONE thing like that? We've just going to open them! At least DCBS will have a good price on the set.

Great point, man! I missed that.
Indeed, Arkham is better equipped for criminals like Freeze and Croc. I'd say Croc's physical condition is what makes him be housed in Arkham? The need for water etc... :dunno Not as severe as Freeze's need, but still a need.
:lol I see your point but I still wouldn't call him mad or anything similar... When people loose everything, like Victor, they do crazy things. They simply cross the line imposed by society because they've gotten nothing left to loose. And, in Victor's case, he's also driven by revange. Very similar to Harvey/Two-Face in TDK.

Ain't that the truth??? That box is totally useless. What could go with that box, in order to have sort of a display? Nothing! Displaying only 5 characters next to or inside it will break the pattern of any existing display. UGH

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I wonder if it's designed to take the bat signal on the roof?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I made some gentle changes to Harvey today to make him look more show accurate and I gave him a toothpick :D

Now that you mention it, him having a toothpick accessory seems so obvious, I'm retroactively disappointed that he didn't officially come with one. It's really the character's trademark, even more than his ever-present donut. The toothpick played a significant role in that "Vendetta" episode (the first I remember being largely focused on him). Really cool idea! Also, your eye sculpt edit really exposes lameness of the original one (just as another post did for Croc earlier in this thread).

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Just started to open up my BBTS haul and I cannot believe how much better the TNBA Joker is than its BTAS version. Sharp sculpt, great paint, no mickey hands and two hyenas!

They really need to revisit the BTAS version, he is still my favorite animated Joker and its a shame that he pales so in comparison.

Thanks. Nice to see someone agreeing with me. I couldn't believe when that action figure reviewer guy Michael Crawford called it best sculpt of this line's early waves. Such an arbitrary and incorrect choice. Riddler all the way.

Hell yea, Riddler by far!

Maybe in the USA... :D I live in Italy, from BBTS with the ship and international taxes will cost me even more than 175$.... gonna buy them from eBay somehow, probably from UK.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Not sure about the scale of the figures in the new set... In that horrible box Bane looks even shorter... o_O DCC is not new to ignore character scales...

but what disappoint me more are Freeze's eyebrows.. Bruce Timm style ignored.. T.T

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Rogue's Gallery TAS versions of Croc, Freeze and Ivy are enough to get the whole set. Officer Montaya was a nice bonus :clap

I never was a fan of TAS Bane look, reminded me of a wrestler but I'll take it anyway.

Not sure you scale buffs will think this an ideal set though :slap

Are you serious?
Do you even watch his episodes nowadays/regularly or you simply got an aleatory still online?

And I seriously laughed out loud at "Bruce Timm style ignored". You got a still from Subzero, a film in which all characters were sort of redesigned/modernized and barely looked like the original TV series. And a film in which Bruce Timm played no role at all whatsoever.

If you wanna compare the figures to the "original Bruce Timm design", you either get stills from episodes he directed or at least produced, or you compare them to the model sheet.

For example, compare Freeze to his appearance in the classic "Heart of Ice" episode. An episode Bruce Timm personally directed and produced.
All I see is that they nailed him.

Yeah the " Heart of Ice " look is my favorite version of Freeze even better than the episode were he had female henchmen

It's hard to tell what his nose looks like in these promo pics..hope DCC got it right

The proto image was blurred when over-zoomed to include in the pic collage, and there's a shadow around his nose anyway.
Take a look at the original proto here and zoom it yourself:

They got his nose right, from what we can see.
