Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I know we are sad because of Ivy, but can we take a moment to celebrate and be happy for Mr. Freeze, Bane, Croc and Montoya????

I mean... they nailed those four!!!

Especially Freeze... I almost fainted at how freaking perfect is Freeze. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

As much as I see the figures are far from perfect I'm really excited to see such a large assortment of new figures in a single pack. I highly doubt this is the "end of the BTAS", I just think they will be releasing less figures in their waves, and that's why they are moving on with the STAS and JL-JLU figures.

I think we will be getting pretty neat surprises this coming Toy Fair. I'M JUMPING ON MY OFFICE DESK RIGHT NOW!!!! (Gonna get fired if I keep it up.)

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

SFA, do you happen to have picture of the stand you made for the batwing. I'm curious to know how it attaches and keeps it up so well. That's the best display I've seen so far.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yes, I think we're going to see a full new wave of Superman figures at Toyfair and perhaps a tease of Justice League.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Nah the more I look at Bane, the more disappointed I get with him. They missed the mark on his build. Figure looks too small.

Agreed. This Bane looks nowhere near as good as the TNBA Bane we have. This fig isn't the least bit muscular for Bane. Body looks more like Bruce at the gym. I was expecting as much after Clayface though. Croc's arms aren't bulky enough either, so they look extra lanky and weird, and his ab crunch is hideous. Montoya and Freeze look decent. The other 3 are fails imo. After the last 2 waves being so awesome, I would have never expected the laziness with these figs. Most could be easily retooled, but it's a matter of will they be

Also, these coming in the 5 packs is going to make finding an entire set with decent paint apps near impossible :slap

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Hmm....I have mixed feelings on these sculpts. I really like the Photoshop edits and those Croc eyes look so much better that way. You can basically hear him speaking with those new eyes.
One of the accessories may very well be an extra Montoya head without the hat. Her photo on the package shows her without a hat anyway. It doesn't seem like it would be removable and look that good on, so maybe it's a second head? That would be a great step for this line to take- offering additional heads.
I hate the price, though. I totally agree that they saw people paid $175 for the Batwing and thought they could raise the price. I don't think we should expect a big vehicle reveal at NYTF with this filling that price bracket.
The best things about this set are Freeze and Montoya's headsculpts. The male bodies all somehow look like bendy figures. I don't understand what happened from the much better body sculpts of previous waves? : /

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I wonder if these will be even lesser-quality than the mainline figures, like a lot of DCC's figure bundles. Croc looks fine IMO, but Bane needs to be bigger and the colors on Ivy should be fixed.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought they looked like bendy figures...
I'm happy to see some of my favs in there but disappointed that they're gimmicked into a 5 pack together with figures I don't want.
It's neat that the box has lights, would be cool to swap out the figures, but I'm more about the flow of my collection, and I have all mine in their single cards still and that's how I want them displayed, this messes with that..
And that pricepoint...

Hopefully singlecarded versions will be available, and also improved colours/sculpts
They've been great at listening to fans about what needs to be done with this line so I'm not really worried about what the final products will look like

Gotta fix that ab crunch on Croc for sure though, he's one I wanted and that's a pass looking like that.
Less bendy looking Freeze
improved Ivy colours

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I have a feeling the sizes in the promo photo don't accurately represent the figure's sizes. Pictures like that are often done in photoshop and that the figures may very well have been photographed separately. Bane may wind up being bigger than he seems there--Ivy, too (she and Montoya look like they are in different scales). Maybe we could wait until these figures are officially unveiled in a month at Toyfair before freaking out about about some of them being too small.
By all means, though, go ahead and bombard DC Collectibles about Croc's brow and ab-crunch and Ivy's hair, chin, and colors.

TNBA Bane and Croc have similar an crunches. Man Bat too. Croc is clearly standing too upright and the joint looks odd.

Granted there are some clearly off-model missteps in the line but I think there is also a lot of jumping the gun criticism in this thread.

Thank you!!!
We, as collectors, should all know by now how prototype images can deceive, especially DCC's. They have the worst prototype images ever.
I wish they would at least put that classic tag in each of their proto: "product colors and decorations may vary from those shown".

And to be fair, all figures so far have been better than their respective proto images, and that's what matters.
I would be very frustrated if it was the opposite, like what happens with Neca, for example.

So, sit back, relax and wait for ToyFair - even SDCC.

Ps.: there have been two major examples of color changes (for better) in this line: Gordon and Talia.

"Croc is clearly standing too upright and the joint looks odd".
THIS!

Same happened to Clayface. The worst pose and shot. Arguably the worst proto image so far.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I am really glad that they managed to find a way to give us Montoya, great to have a cop for the display. The rest look pretty good to me, I am happy enough with them. Hopefully this does well and we get another set to round out the line. So many big hitters at one time must mean it's winding up time. Hope they prove me wrong and give us something truly amazing at toy fair-The Batcave.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm happy with the new set. I like the characters and the design so far. I can do without the display box with lights since I don't have room for that but I rather take this over no figures.

It's true, but does stand out quite a bit in that photo.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think all but Ivy look good enough. I'm not a huge fan of Bane so I don't really care about him. I think Croc could have broader shoulders. He looks a little too monkey arms. Freeze is pretty good but I think his shoulders are too wide and I worry about his articulation.

But man oh man, Ivy is a disappointment :( Her head is just not on model and she looks a little too "full" in the chest area. I think she is a hard character to pull off and I've only seen it done well in statues or custom figures. I can't believe this is the result after waiting so long to finally see a pic. Ugh.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I just hope they decide to scrap this stupid light up box idea and release these all individually. If I wanted some cheap cardboard crap like Andy's play town in Toy Story I'd make it myself. Even if they do release the villains individually, I can almost guarantee Renee will be exclusive to this lame ass set. $112 individually for the 4 villains + $63 for exclusive Montoya with glorified cereal box :rotfl

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

The box isn't for me either but I like the idea. Its a throw back to the kenner Gotham 5 pack sets and I like that. I won't keep the box, I open and play with all my figures but I like that we are getting it. It shows imagination, I am guessing the only way we were getting Montoya. This is the beginning of the end but I will support the line because DC Collectibles has reached for the stars with some of the releases. Nobody ever dared give us a 1/12 Batwing, most companies never gave us a 1/12 Batmobile ( I am looking at you DCUC ). This line should be celebrated, its not just another figure line.

LMAO, agreeded. Looks exactly like a "special edition" cereal box!!! And Andy's cardboard jail!!!! LMAAAAO :rotfl

Boxsets are such hideous ideas. Forcing customers to get what they don't want in order to earn more. What a disrespect.
If they want to make a figure exclusive, why don't make it individually exclusive to a store? Then, people who want that can go to such store and buy it.

Lucky for me and most people, those 4 villains are a must, so we will get this set regardless. But what if it was the opposite? 4 lesser known B listers and a must-have A lister like Alfred?
And I've already seen people complaining they just want 2 of those figs.... they must be even angrier than us.

Plus, I don't see the value in that box at all whatsoever. As much as it lights up, I just don't see any value.
Also, that's not even the classic place those 4 villains are locked up. Freeze is in Stonegate, Ivy and Croc in Arkham, and Bane... where does Bane go? Stonegate? Anywhere but GCPD.

I do hope they release at least the villains separately. Because, seriously, boxsets are a direspect.

Ps.: I thought you were dead! :rotfl
Kidding.
I'll DM you when I get to my laptop again.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm pretty sure Freeze was in Arkham, wasn't he?
