Mmmm, went off this now. It's not quite right. The unmasked head is horrific, too elongated or something.

It's nice. Serviceable, but for $1200...pass.

Fair question.

Combination of :

1. Expensive license
2. Detail & complexity
3. Lockout stopping other companies producing at this scale
4. Fanatical fanbase

I would have bought at this price no problem - it's a lot less than I expected and fair for a piece this size - but not with the sub-par art-direction/sculpting delivery.

This is bigger than you average 1/4 piece as well. It should be noted that Prime 1 delivers bigger pieces for less so that's only part of the story. The rest of the story is.. Sideshow.

That is a good point! as stated people will want this more than any other predator and will pay that amount. I believe Gladiator Hulk stood at 27 inches I have him displayed next to my Wolf Predator and the price for that was $599 at the time. Yet the Wolf was $2k at 31 inches. So point being this is a complex piece to pant and sculpt mixed media inflation fanbase etc. I personally think it should not be more than $1k for what you are getting. But at the same time it could have been a lot more, if your in the US it's worth getting it but the tax on this will be high for us outside the US not to mention shipping costs. But one thing for certain re-sell value will be good at least

It'll be incredible if you like fully sculpted and having to pay someone from another country to try and get you one.
That and very high shipping.

Gotcha. As a Muesum pose collector, I'll just keep my Sideshow PO for now then. Last time I said I'd wait for EX, they released that Boba Fet that was just too much for me. Didn't like it at all.

Out of curiosity, I never kept up with the P2 Maquette drama but I thought they cancelled it and refunded deposits? I see people have them now though, did they re-open the PO's or something after? I kinda want one now...

So you HAVE preordered this?

Yeah - the P2's were cancelled, then put up again for preorder with increased edition size.

They weren't selling well, so, a few days after release, they had a short overnight window where SOME people got a "20% off" pop-up offer on the Sideshow site, and that started them moving again.

Sideshow have been claiming "sold out" for a while, but we have no way of verifying they actually DID sell out the original full edition sizes.

Yeah, I'm completely happy with what I'm seeing so far so it was a no brainer for me. I was just more curious as to how a competitor's looked.

And thanks for the history, I just checked the P2 thread and I can't believe what a crappy job they did on the paint. I hope this P1 doesn't suffer rom the same fate.

In fairness, the paint (excepting the skulls on the base and the P2's brows) was one of the better things on that (all things considered) - the sculpt issues are what REALLY let it down.

A lot of us that went through that debacle are seeing it again with this piece - so have decided already to give this a wide berth.
